drilled rotors are only for show...... with today's break pads you do not need to be drilled, but sloted are still usefull.
I ahve http://siteground207.com/~protegeg/product_info.php?cPath=32_176&products_id=1471 and they are GREAT, got sloted not drilled! once they start to crack they are goners

so basically to get better braking power i should go with slotted instead of slotted and drilled??? so why do they still drill on the rotors

Good write up. I'll have to remember that when I upgrade next year.

You should go Dimpled drill and slotted. Cross-Drilled actually weaken the rotor and are prone to cracking. Check out the EBC GD series rotors. GD7107 front and GD1197 rear rotors.
The big diffrence between dimpled drill, slotted rotors versus simply slotted is that the hot gases created when friction occurs go into the little holes and are expelled when pad moves off from overtop. It helps maintain a cooler rotor and mostly a better contact of pad and rotor.
You can also get the slotted only discs from them and they are the USR serie rotors. These will maintain a good pad to rotor contact by keeping the pad material even with rotor surface.
Cheers!
