Now I know I need to get some good Hawk pads sooner or later(Sooner), but went to AutoZone to get pads because they are liftime warranty. For some reason the front pads are the Mazdaspeed fitted pads, but the rear takes pads for a mazda6. They are Duralast brand, but have no freakin clue why the protege pads don't fit the rear. Any answers, comments welcome. Yes I know Duralast suck. That's what happens when u get Laid Off and can't afford the nice stuff. Thanks.

how much did you pay for the pads?

Around $50 front and back I think. It was like almost two years ago.

if you need pads just buy them off protegegarage to make it easier....... But I think the MSP's rears have the same of one of the years RX7's aswell.

I didn't know that, but still don't have any idea why it would take mazda6 pads and not protege pads. Unless Duralast is just all messed up, which is a option too.

Same problem here with 02 Protege5. Hawk pads do not fit, the installed pads were completely different. The strange thing is that they overhang the rotor OD like a larger diameter rotor is required. Any info on correct pads and rotor diameter would be helpfull.

Must be something with the Hawk pads I guess, since more then 1 of you are having problems. Ill look into it, don't know how far I can get since its a weekend though.

So I changed the pads the other day with Duralast pads from Autozone, and just like last time it took protee pads in the front and mazda6 pads in the rear. Fit perfect so I have no idea why so many of us are having problems. Any answers for why there are different setups?
