If you lived in Ohio I would definetely come and help install those parts. The install is the best part! All that hard work and busted knuckles pay off. Are you going to install everything at one time or one at a time?
Let me know how the MP3 ECU transaction works out. I'm very tempted to do that too...

I'm about to do the Tokico's all around. I'll post pics of the install.

Wanna get some eyelids?

I would suggest a rear sway bar from Progress and new end links, because you'll probably need to cut off the stockers because they'll be rusted. That's a cheap purchase and really improves handling. And easy to install!
I'm jealous of your shopping spree. Your P5 is going to feel totally different from all the mods! (cabpatch)

How about you save up your money, sell the p5, and get a faster car. (sssh)

Good job cleaning the header buddy and avoiding random fingerprints everywhere like I had, lol.
If you want my honest advice, you have a great list except for the mazdaspeed flywheel. You are not going to see a difference with stock and it is not worth the price. The fidanza flywheel is very light and with that, you can burn out in first gear.
And drive ability is fine. I have the exedy oem clutch with the fidanza flywheel in my car now and theres no chattering or anything. Defiantly return the flywheel and order the fidanza flywheel from PG. Take my word for it and you will not regret it.

all and all this thing is a different car for sure(it kinda feels like my old honda when i first put the b20 in it)..shes goes though the rpms way fast and has some good power now
im just waiting for a few more parts and then im going to put the rest on and im hope that this thing i feel alot better

i have looked into cams.....
once i get the mp3 ecu im thinking i might be done with the motor for now
cuz i still have to put the lightened pulley and the mp3 ecu on ...and with what i have now and those i think ill be happy...
im looking into either cf hood/front lip or some rims
stdntDrvr
06-24-2009, 01:46 PM
rims...something gold would be nice
hondajunkie01
06-24-2009, 01:56 PM
ive been looking at either gold or black with a red right or lip...i think either would look good on a white p5
ok i just ordered the mp3 ecu and i should get my pulley tomorrow
does one of the mods want to change this to "hondajunkie01 build thread" haha cuz its turning out that way

Did you buy your MP3 ECU from Spicy? Let us know when you get it and how if you can tell a difference. I'm getting an OEM MP3 ECU next week but if the deal falls through I'll hit Spicy up. I'm just a little weary, though he seems legit.
This is a great thread to read. I'm still jealous. Haha
hondajunkie01
06-25-2009, 02:58 PM
yeah i am getting the ecu from spicy and i will let you guys know how it goes....and i was weary too but i know with lots of other cars it is very possible to reflash ecu ....
dude don't be jealous not only have i taken out a loan for 4k but i work for NASA so i get good pay and i still cant do all the things i need to do and want to do......
its cuz guns and shooting is my main hobby , and then its my car...which just happens to be the 2 most expensive hobbies you can have haha
Lewis7789
06-25-2009, 04:41 PM
NASA? Sweeeet! You should make your OWN parts and put NASA stickers on them. Haha!
I hear ya about having an expensive hobby, I'm a musician... I used to buy basses left and right at $2000 a pop. I could've had a few turbo kits by now! Well, this is a great thread to watch and I'm sure your P5 will become one of the best.

Wow, that engine is super clean. Is it a replacement? Nice set of mods...is the Corksport "Power Series Intake Duct" that thing that replaces part of the undertray in front of the driver's side wheel? I've always wondered if those were a good idea because of the water that would come right in during heavy rain or moderate puddles...just a thought.

Looks great! Where did you find your *************** header? How much was it if you don't mind me asking?
I've been thinking about the CorkSport ducting too, but I live in Ohio where it rains and snows. Boo.

the engine is the original one the car has had only two owners and we have kept the car super clean plus it only has 45k miles on it and you are right about the intake duct and i live in so cal so its not a problem with the rain

don't forget to run premium once you put in the ecu. also, search for 1.8L coils...there's a conversion you can do that will help smooth out your powerband a little.
as far as the corksport duct thing, if you look at the part it replaces, it has an angled part you could have just cut out to make the same thing.
i have expensive hobbies just like you guys...guns, music and cars. i usually invest in one of them once a year. car was last year (90% of my mods), gun was this year (browning 625 field) and i hope to get a new guitar next year...either custom lakewood or taylor...i've spec'd them both and they're around the same amount...i've owned quite a few taylors and i love the way they play...never owned a lakewood, though...not sure if i want to invest that kind of money into something that unknown...but who knows.

Did *************** go out of business or something? Their website seems like they're gone and they are only selling two pieces for an RX-7 on eBay... I'm looking for a header and was looking for something better than an OBX. Where did you order your header? Thanks in advance.

Wow looking good! The mod bug is biting my ass again....But I should finish my cafe racer project first.
I'm also going to look into that header but I have an MSP exhaust. I heard it'll sound ricey if I run an aftermarket header with it. Is this true?

Get it. I'm probably the first if not second person to run this header. It's a great piece I had no problems with it. It's basically an obx knockoff but dave has a guy that custom makes these for him. It's worth it for the price I'm very happy with it. Dave has been my parts guy for over a year or so now and is great to deal with.

another update guys
ive been trying to figure out if the udp did anything besides a tiny low end and it did...

new update
so i received the ecu yesterday and put it on the car...it was really easy to do but it looked like someone already has done this on my car(the more mod i do the more it looked like the guy who owed the car last did too)
after i got it put on a realized i had a 1/4 tank of 87 ...i decided to start the car and see how it ran and see if it would knock...
let the car idle tell it got warm and then took it for a drive everything went great no knock or any sign of wrong fuel ...and she also pulled a bit harder but the power band was way better it was so so smooth....i cant wait to get some 91 in her belly or maybe ever 100 and take it to a dyno
