Question on the Brakes
I'm new to this site and in the market of buying a CX9. I test drive one and it rode great and felt good too. The only problem I notice was, when I step on the brakes, going about 40 mpg, it was vibrating, (Warp rotors), was the first thing can in mind. I asked the salesman and he had no real answer for me. But he did give a B/S. that it's the new braking systems. I know what ABS braking system fells like and it was not. I just asking, if anyone had or having problem with the brakes.

There have been a couple posts from people saying they had problems with warped rotors. A couple of them were also on cars that were right off the lot. I'm pretty sure they got fixed under warranty. I would make sure it's done before you buy the car though...

Make sure you address the problem before 15k or Mazda says "so solly challie"

what is the 15k mileage mean unless Mazda is unlike other Mfgs who only warrant EVERYTHING for 1/12k then wear items are no longer included like brakes or wiper blades.

Also I don't think "so solly challie" is appropriate since we are talking Japanese brand not a Vietnamese brand. (bolt)

I stand corrected. It is 1yr/12k.

Not sure I'm reading this right ... you mean to say within 1 year/12k I can also get my wiper blades replaced?? I know some euro automakers have this policy within the original warranty period (4y/50k).

You bet ya. The only thing not covered under any warranty even from day one (dealer may help you on it though) are tires. Those you have to deal with the manufacturer.

Woah that’s industry new, it’s always been tires/batt carry their own warr. What’s the world coming to when rotors are not covered with the basic 36/36 bumper-bumper.

Batteries are subjective because some manufacturers use their own brand such as MOPAR. So Chrysler warranties them for you, no issues. Just trying to get the dealer to beleive there is an issue is another matter

My rotors are just starting to get noticeably warped and we've got ~17K on the car so we're SOL warranty wise. Are there any good after market rotors for the CX-9?

There are a couple good sites. Here is one.
Good street rotors:

I am sure any good brand name rotor will give you years of unwanted warpage. Bendix, Wagner and others. Stay away from store brands and unknown brands unless you can read reviews on them

Yeah I just want to get something good since the OEMs only lasted 10-11 months before warping.

I just had my rotors turned (cut) again.. This is the second time in 31,000 miles.. So, I get about 15k per turning.. The dealership performed the work at no charge.

Tirerack doesn't list anything for the CX-9 yet.. I had good luck with another car but not too much for the 9 right now, and nothing for rotors.

25k On original pads and rotors. Lots of pad left, no problem with the rotors.

Same here. I am on my 2nd set of rotors right now. It is vibrating like earthquake any speed above 50mph when applying brakes. It has to be the design of the rotors that causes the warping. The so-call dealer said the problem will not come back when they replaced the 2nd set of rotors (BS). I was thinking if breaking-in the brake pads with the rotors has anything to do with the warping?
I am thinking about aftermarket rotors too. Please keep this thread updated guys.

edit: I just found some rotors on Tirerack. They will be available later this month :D

Crystalwhitey - nice find.. These were not on the rack a few weeks ago. I'm glad that replacements are now available so that I have a choice when my rotors warp again on me...
Thx,

In Response to Hamproof's message on wipers (If you were speaking of windshields??)
I would get the refills from the dealer (they are the only place to get them). You keep your original (nice) blades. It cost $9.00. I couldn't believe it.

They do have them now. Not cheap.
Does anyone know if the 2010 brakes are different (bigger)?
