Well I want to remove my spoiler for a little bit, and put it back on when im lowered. But when you take it off, there are holes left over. Is theres any like rubber grommet that can slide into it so watter doesn't leak though. I know this one kid that had a 300zx which he took his rear wipper off and put a rubber thing in the hole, But this hole isn't as big as that would be, but its in a carbon trunk so I want it to look good and not just use tape......
anyone got any idea's? (attn)

just make sure everything is sealed tightly, it would suck to get water in the decklid and in the trunk too.

Hey, I too am about to remove my wing. It's the oem MP3 Wing, but it should be similar to non 03.5 MSP wings I believe. Thing is there are the 4 main bolts/nuts holding it down on the two sides of the spoiler. Are there any bolts/nuts holding the center part on? And also what is the adhevsive that the factory uses to secure the spoiler on??? What should I use to break the bond of that adhesive?

3m double sided tape and several bolts connect the spoiler to the decklid. Use fishing line to slice through the tape. Also, a heat gun helps to get the process moving;)

No problem. Also, try finding two sticks to wrap/tie around the ends of about say 3 ft. of fishing line. This way you have leverage and you're hands won't slip off. The link below is a picture of what I'm describing. GL

Just so you know there are ALOT of holes. And in my opinion it wouldnt look good to just plug them up like you can with other cars.

Got caps, Going to wash car then take pics :P
And Go to lowes or Home depo (they both are like the same) and Look for Nylon Caps, Or what I actually used was Push Fasteners cause there head was bigger (cover up the washer indent) But I also bought the nylon caps at the same time.
But you have to figure out what size caps you need first then go and get them. its around the bolt section (it was isle 1 for me in the middle)
The Nylon caps are made by Hillman.

Spoiler is off, but a problem has arisen. The 6 holes are slightly smaller than the 3/8" plug but too big for the 1/4" plug. I tried to cut the 3/8 plug so it will slide over but the top base before the head of the plug is too wide to fit... So I'm about to head up to Lowes or Ace hardware and try to figure something out.
Then it's time for a car wash. :)

06-20-2009, 12:55 PM
lol, then pic? haha, but if you can make the 3/8th one go all the way in, then just put silcone on the back of it to seal it up.

Ya, I think to make them work I will have to file down the plastic part that comes out of the head of the plug. Its just got too wide of a diameter by probably ~2 mm and it won't sit down in the hole. Would silicone sealant come back out easily?

It looks too clean without the spoiler. And the view in the rear-view mirror is f'in lovely. I did one polishing compound coat on the trunk 2 nights ago and I think today I will do a lot more. My paint was faded like a mofo. lol :D

get some vinyl decal to cover the holes. just cut squares or have someone use a viny cutter to make circles.
