Took my MSP to the track last weekend and wanted to here from some autocross racers what type of full coilover you preferred and the set up. Also what brand, size, and tread wear for a tire on the stock racing beat rim. And can you get a 8" wide tire on with the right coilover set up? Thanks

BC Coilovers are THE BEST, But tires, this is hard to say. Each person would like one time over the other,

Was thinking of running jic coilovers/ with dunlap direzza sport z1 star spec in a 215/45-17, but wouldn't a 215/40-17 be a litter wider tire. I'd like to get a 8" tire on with no clearance issues. What makes BC the best?

KW > BC
The build and ride quality are excellent.

the first number in the tire size is the width, but depending on the manufacturer, the number and the actual width aren't dead on (due to difference in where its measured).... a 40 profile will be a little bit shorter (less sidewall) tire than stock, so you'll put more power on the ground, but your gear ratios will be closer.
wheel width really depends on tire width, theres not really a point in more than a 7" wheel on an MSP unless you're doing a LOT of modification to clear a huge tire.

BC's are MUCH more adjustable then the JIC's are.

well the Protege only has the basic BC coilovers, cause the protege isnt big enough for most company's to make them work with every kind of product they make.

I guess this goes without saying, but adding coilovers and different size rims will take you out of the stock classes. Here in the KC region, it is best for me to stay in stock if I want to compete for a trophy...if not I get outclassed majorly by cars such as Evo's and the likes....how well do you run in STX Vega? Any close competition, or are you just running for the sake of bettering your skills? Are you elligible for the contingency programs? In Solo 2?
Also...I have been thinking about an R-Comp for the stock (sized) wheels, but noone seems to make a 215 for a 17....any ideas/advice?

By mistake I raced in st class (which was more for experience) cause that what my buddy who's been racing for 10 years said. Got to looking up indy regien rules the next day and relized I should have been in stx(cause of the LSD) but don't think wheel size matters in eather her. I'm racing next sun in stx then after that I get bumped to SMS cause I've got a fmic on the way. Very tough class if your in it for trophys. Lots of modded evos,stis,m3s,r32s ect. ect...I'm just gettin started and I'm not in it for the pts yet. Would like to stay in stx but a fmic is just a must.
