So I got a CEL and had the dealer read and clear the code. The code pointed to the 2nd o2 sensor. I bought a replacement, but I'm thinking it could be the 2nd catalytic instead. Here's my reasoning for this - let me know if it's logical or not. I'd rather fix the problem once and get it right the first time :)
1. I've heard louder noise out the exhaust. Of course, this could be due to the exhaust "wearing in". I have a Magnaflow with probably 20-30k miles on it. (car total has 40k miles).
2. I have been w/o the 1st cat for 32k miles when I put on an obx header. So even though the car has low miles, the 2nd cat is getting doing all the exhaust cleaning work.
3. The CEL came on once more when it was really hot and humid out and then went away some days later. Maybe different atmospheric conditions caused the 2nd cat to fail?
Any insight would be appreciated!
