is a 1.8 and 2.0 interchangeable

ok i am buying a used engine from ALL JAPANESE ENGINES for my mp3, the guy says he cant guarantee an fs (2.0), i might get an fp (1.8). is there much difference between the two? he says they are identical to look at, and they take different timing belts, and theres only a 3hp difference, but they bolt on the the exact same. is all this true?

I went to a mazda dealership and they told me there was no difference between the 1.8 and 2.0 when it comes to the air intake. I have no idea about the direct bolt in capabilities though. Sorry.
