Hi guys,

I've run into a spot of bother with my 2004 Mazda 2 Genki - it's sprouted a rather savage oil leak. It's not a leak from an engine oil seal or anything like that - it seems to be leaking from a canister of some sort on the LHS of the engine.

Have a look at http://users.tpg.com.au/petergly/m2enginebay.jpg. I have indicated the canister with an arrow in the pic I refer to above. It's not the most ideal photo, but can anyone tell me what this canister is?

Regards,

Peter Mac in Sydney

your engine mount is broken, it needs to be replaced

Aha - yes, in the cold light of day I can now see it's an engine mount. Very interesting... :-)

But how come this has caused an oil leak? And it's definitely engine oil that's leaking. Is this engine mount oil-damped in some way?

it would appear so

Spot on TheMAN - it is the engine mount. I didn't realise they were fluid-filled... Thanks again!
