process?
is it worth sanding priming then painting and clear coat?
or is a couple coats of paint over the stock chrome emblems fine with a clear coat??
also is vht niteshade good to use to paint emblems if a clear coat is followed after? or is regular spray paint the way to go..
also, in which ever way is best what is the exact process??
sorry i just dont feel like screwing anything up:confused:

Sand them and clear coat them after you paint. I didn't clear coat and it started flaking after a week. Been goldent ever since I re-sanded and clear coated the paint

I let it soak with clorox until the chrome came off (I think thats unecessary) and sanded it. Painted with 3 coats and a gloss and its been fine for the 4 months its been there. Been through tons of car washes and its still nice

I really wanted to coat my chrome with Niteshades, but I think I'm going to try it without sanding, because that would pretty much negate the reason for doing them in the first place... I want the chrome to shine through the tint. I think I'll wash thoroughly with dishsoap, and then maybe swab with alcohol and keep my greasy fingers off before coating. I'll post my results when I get around to doing it. What about clearcoat... any recommendations for something good and durable for automotive use?

I just used the same spray paint gloss I used on my calipers.

I'm working on mine right now actually. Used a Dremel with a sanding cylinder on it and took it down to the plastic, scuffed it with 400 grit sandpaper, then used a can of automotive primer on it. I have a auto gloss black and clearcoat to put over top. I think a second coat of primer, then 1-2 coats of black, as well as 1-2 coats of clear should be good. Hit it lightly between coats with some steel wool, then blow off with compressed air and you should be set.

does anyone no how to properly take out the back and front emblem without breaking the clips??
and do they just clip back in or do they need glue or tape like the other emblems on the back??

You already asked this question and it was answered. Also, you need some 3m adhesive (from your local auto parts store) to reapply the rear badge.

lol that sucks... i needa do my rear one cuz i loved how my front one came out.
not to change the subject but... has anyone tried to use like tinting spray or something to black out the side markers?
cause i was wondering instead of buying blacked out ones from SU or w.e for like $100+, why not paint em?

I bought the SU blackout ones, and my front badge chipped within 6 months. I redid it myself though.
I have heard of people using nightshades to do the emblems, never seen any pics of it though.
