Question about stock MSP amp

So my amp is blowing the fuse right off the battery. When I put a fresh fuse in, it works for a little while before popping. The subwoofer goes from working to making a putt-putt-putt sound and back to working. I'm guessing the amp is dying...? I'm not an audio guru, so I'm asking here. The wiring coming into the trunk looks like the factory bundle, so I don't think it's from someone's crappy wire-hack job shorting out somewhere. The fact that the fuse is blowing and subwoofer itself is acting funny (but doesn't sound blown when it's working), I'm thinking the amp might be shot and causing surges of power and popping the fuse. Before I buy a new amp, anybody have any thought/experience to share? Thanks

Check ur ground lead at the ampifier make sure it is not loose..and double check make sure all the screw terminals on the Amp are tight

OK, I checked the wires on the amp and they're all in solid. I followed the groud wire into the wire harness it plugs into behind the trunk carpeting and up to that it looked good. I didn't want to risk ripping up my carpeting too bad, so I stopped there. The sub is still fluctuating between working properly and making a puttering sound (quiet though). Eventually the fuse near the battery will still pop. Without ripping out all my carpet trying to trace the path of the groud wire, I'm thinking this has to be an amp issue. Any further thougts from anybody?

i'm having my own issues with my setup... previous owner was a total hack.

i can tell you the ground for the factory setup goes to a bolt immediately behind the drivers side rear seat. fold it down, pull up the carpet from the trunk and for the back of the seat, can't miss it.

thats where i found mine somewhere in the midst of removing (no bullshit) 26 previously cut wires today.
