View Full Version : HID Question/ need a relay?

alright so i got some planet hids and there h4 hi/lows and i hooked them up right but nothing worked. no flicker or anything. in the instruction manual it says that i have to use a relay which i have but the relay wont work unless i have a controller of some sort? anyone know anything about that? iam lost and sorta of pissed cause they didnt offer a controller on there website. input please!!

My apexcone h4 hi/lo kit doesn't use any sort of controller. Bulbs connect to ballasts, which connect to +/- battery terminal, with the relay in the middle (which will also connect to the factory headlight plug. You may want to a.) make sure you have it all connected properly, and or b.) check (somehow) to see if the bulbs are maybe defective.

Let's hope you didn't touch the bulbs with your bare hands!

ah i see! well iam going to try that here in 5 min! and ill get back to u and let u know. i dont think the bulbs are bad cause they dont make sounds when i shake them. i already checked hah! thanks for the diagram@ that totally helps!

alright well that didnt work for some reason. i hook the 2 wire from the relay to the bulbs and the main wire to the ballast and grounded the one wire and hook the hot wire straight the to the battery terminal and still got nothing....

That pic he posted isnt how I have my set up at all, that just confuses me... haha

PM Rush, she has a picture somewhere that helped me TONS when I installed mine.

i dont see how both bulbs could be shot! even if they were the will still send a quick charge through the bulb!
