So, i check the How-To install the autometer boost gauge, And thats all fine and dandy, but im still not sure how to connect the regular vac line to the back of the boost gauge. The gauge (stewart Warner) came with some shitty nylon cable. So my question is, how do i connect the nylon cable to the Vac source. OR how to i connect the vac directly to the Gauge.

2nd question. My gauge is at about 2-3 Below 0 boost when it is not plugged in to anything. Is that normal? im thinking not, but i dont know.

thanks.

You need a pressure fitting with the correct size end for the hose and to screw into the gauge. Same thing for putting a T into the vacuum supply line. You can get these anywhere that sells plumbing supplies. The "shitty nylon" hose is also good to use because it is designed to hold vacuum without crushing.

Gauges sometimes read oddly when not hooked up to anything. May not be normal but see what happens. It could also be calibrated incorrectly. Not something that can be fixed at home (as far as I know) but would explain the low reading.

I just installed the Autometer boost gauge today. I had to get a fitting that was 1/8" female pipe thread on one end and 3/16" barb on the other end. The only place I could find one was at Ace Hardware and they had to special order. Since it was a special order I had to buy 5 of them. And I'm guessing you need to get your gauge re-calibrated since it's not at 0.

I think you have to send it back, I'm not sure though.

don't bother sending it back when I installed my boost gauge read 1-2 vac before I installed and after the first start up it corrected itself
