So after recieving my custom short ram intake from Protege Garage yesterday of course I had to put it on! The SRI only cost $150 shipped and it is of very high quality. The sound is very awesome and I could feel the added hp on the butt dyno. The filter that comes along with it is a K&N so you know your getting a quality setup. Here is some pictures and soon I will have a video of how it sounds with the forge bpv.

I'll also add that the install was very easy and only took about 20 minutes as opposed to a CAI that can take up to 2 hours.

Looks very nice, I'm looking forward to seeing (hearing) the video. Are there any differences between the models for the 3, 6, and 7? Other SRIs that are specific to the Speed3 (like the Nano) would have a lot more room in the Speed6 and can take advantage of some more length to get to the cooler air.

there is no difference between the parts on the 3 or 6. there is some lee way in how far in you can clamp down the hose and / or filter to the air tunnel.

I don't mean to sound negative but if a bigger air filter makes you feel better your putting your faith in the wrong things. The design/engineering is what matters for all performance parts. Cobb and PG took time to engineer and test their designs. I wouldn't call PG's price undercutting so much as they offer a better price for this part, Cobb just has a bigger industry name which in turn shows up in the price. Ok so, yeah, if it's a bigger filter that makes you feel better then more power to you.

Congrats on the new buy man, keep us posted I'm looking into both the Cobb and PG Sri's. I'd love the feedback.

cobb offers a larger filter to fit in the extra space the speed6 has. and its common sense that more surface area and a greater cone vortex not only compresses MORE air but it gets slightly cooler because it has a longer distance to build speed and vaccuum pressure by the time it enters the intake tube. i think you did mean to sound negative. and offering a better price is called undercutting the competition, sorry guy. of course a bigger filter is better. TOO big isn't, but unfortunately the speed3 guys have to sacrifice filter size because of compact space. im pretty sure speed6 cobb filter is standard size for most aftermarket intakes, and not larger than its supposed to be.

Hmmmm, this sounds like it might have just jumped ahead of the CP-E SRI with a $10 powdercoat and possible larger filter. Ken, would it be possible to bundle with the 7" K&N that Qwik6 is using?

Does this one feel solid when mounted? Anyone currently using this with the Speedie6 TIP?

i dont think the size is causing a difference here, i think it is the different TYPE of filter. if you want to truly test this try finding a big and small filter of the same brand and design.

Above is your original comment SS, no where in there do you give a good reason why "that extra so and so inches" is such a good thing. There are people on this board who do not understand that. Now below you did a great job of this and I appreciate you spelling it out. I do not disagree that more surface area is a good thing. Will your car see gains? Yes, will they be worth the extra money, $15 isn't much based on Ken's post, so why not spend the extra money.

The reason I came off negative is that it drives me nuts when someone responds to a post that they like another part better because of so and so and don't take the time to explain it as you have below. Opinions are like a$$holes we all have one, but if you have proof thats something else all together. Had your repsonse below been your initial response we wouldn't be wasting our time arguing. No where did I say the filter was to big, and if you want to utilize the extra space more power to you.

As for the price/undercutting you make a valid point. That would be undercutting, PG made the right move in doing it as they can offer an intake of the same quality for less thats a good thing for us. Competition breeds innovation and cost savings for all of us.

Thanks Ken! I think I've just found my new intake. Shopping is a no-no until our house closes and we get through the first month or so of setting up cable, internet, etc., but once I'm free to spend again this looks like a winner. Has anyone confirmed that the larger K&N fits OK?

Oh, I forgot to ask about shipping to Canada?

Also, thank you for being so responsive and available. And even offering member-suggested upgrades! Good customer service goes a long way in my book.

PM me with pictures of the install. did you scan for what the code was? if it comes on as soon as something is fired up there is likely a connection issue

Looks great kendon. Definitely need to see pics of it installed! :) Is there any chance the PC on the MAF sensor area would screw with fitment/reading? I doubt it, but you never know. I love that stealth black look.

In regards to the code thrown, all you need to do is reset the intake sensor. Just unplug the batter for 5 minutes and recon. Works fine and sounds great. The forge bpv is about 3 times as loud now. Gunna change to the middle spring setting now.

no chance of that happening. the MAF filament drops down about two inches into the pipe for its reading.

Looks like the filter Ken bundled it with fits pretty snugly, and the optional larger one may not fit. Kendon, would there be room in your bay for a longer filter? (thanks for the pics and vid BTW)

It also looks like it's in the perfect spot and he's gotten it as far as possible away from the hot engine. Great looking piece, now I just have to decide if I'd want the black PC or shiny original.
