View Full Version : Evo 8 front mount on speed3?
So a friend of mine with an Evo recently upgrade his core so he has the stock front mount sitting around and he said he's willing to sell me cheap. I tried doing some searching for this but couldn't find anything, anyone try using one of these cores on a speed3? Trying to see if I could find some cheap piping for this but I have no idea where to start. Just seeing what you guys think..

how much is he sellin for?
I know right now. im slated to buy the Exhaust depot piping Kit with a CXracing or Godspeed Core from Ebay so kit will cost me less than 450.
but i found this Ebay Intercooler kit for our cars and there is a guy that bought one so im waiting for him to receive, install and give me his impressions

my only thing about the kit is
1: the Core is on the smaller side. i want a core around 31X8X2.5-3
2:and the piping isnt black
he said he'd sell it to me for $40. i was just trying to see if anyone has tried this since i was thinking it may be common as a lot of evo owners swap their cores anyway.

i would say the piping is the most important part. getting a Core is easy and cheap.
how much output is the stock evo IC capable of?
i honestly have no idea but i was thinking it'd be better to have a front mount anyway vs the stock tmic

it will be. but the piping kit is the most important part of the kit. not the core. you can get a good Core off ebay for cheap at any time.
i would focus on getting a proper piping kit before buying his core.
you dont want to end up buying his core but not have the ability to use it bc its the wrong size

Well the stock FMIC on the Evo was supposed to be good for 400WHP. BUT I can tell you replacing it the boost response was greatly improved with the aftermarket one. Better flow.
know of any places that i could get some piping done? it's probably going to cost more than i'd like to spend but still..

Isn't the Conquest or Starion FMIC one of the best stock FMIC to get? Least amount of pressure drop and bar and plated?
And yes, the EVO intercooler could handle up to 400whp but with my friends EVO 9, he got an upgraded FMIC and that thing is way smoother through boost. Big difference.

your best bet, is to get a universal piping kit.. run it all yourself and use tape or something to hold where everything is to be welded. and run it to a machine shop for them to weld.. MUCH cheaper.

speaking of the STAR-Quest. my bother has one "Conquest" getting ready to do a 4G64 block with 4G63 head.
even today those cars still look good. especially in the Blue color dodge offered which my bother has
