Guys
Looking to buy in a couple of weeks. I plan on getting a 09 with the bose/moonroof option. My question is can you charge the battery on a ipod on the aux cable or do I need the aux module option the dealer has. If I do can anybody give me a cost and how well it works.
Thanks

Just get a iPOD car charger for the power outlet and plug the headphone jack into the Aux input.
Or, something like this you can transfer between cars:

We have a shuffle that holds 20 cds and just charge it up before we travel, plug it in, and have 4-5 hours of non stop music. Simple

Aux port has no power. It conducts two channels to the receiver. That is all.

That gadget I linked plugs right into the power jack and plays through the FM, so it would work even if your Aux is disabled.

Just ebay the cables.... You can get an USB 12V and 120V charger with a/v cables for under $20

Just curious--isn't it easier to just burn all your MP3 files to CD and load them in the changer, vs. connecting an iPOD? That's what I do.

To re-answer the original question. No, the Aux input is stereo audio only.
There are lots of iPod adapters and separate cables out there though that let you use an iPod though.

Guys
Thanks for the repleys. I leave my ipod in the car(thats the only time I can listen to music) In my current car I have an Alpine with a mp3 hookup that plays everything through the radio, including charging the battery(I'm going to miss it) I don't have a lot of music so maybe its easier to burn them on cd's as my current car did not have a cd changer. I have a fm unit for the ipod, but it dosen't work that great(i hear they are hit or miss) In order to use the ipod, you are going to have handel it to make selections(pain in the butt, especially when driving). The dealer told me the Ipod module is not worth it. I believe you can change selections through the steering wheel, but you cannot see what you selected. Why bother? If it wasn't for the sunroof. I would not even bother with this option(too limited) Any thought on this...

We just loaded our iPod with the playlist we wanted so we don't have to fiddle with it beyond PLAY.
