ok for starters this isnt for my car.. my buddy recently got a turbonetics kit for his spec v. he has a greddy tpye rs bov... isnt that bov made for like 400+hp? i was under the impression the type s and rs were the same but the type s was less "aggresive". anyways the type is is a loud bov not like a flutter like the hks right? i think hes got major compressor surge cause its fluttering bad. anyways anyone clarify if my thoughts are correct?

Compressor surge means the spring is too stiff and the valve cannot properly vent the excess boost. HP has nothing to do with it...it's all about PSI. I would check youtube to see if there is a video with that setup (or that BOV) and compare the sounds.

im not sure how the RS woorks but i have the Type S.

if you open up the bov, there are two springs in my Type S. there may be too in the RS as well.

there is a single spring mod wher eyou remove the smaller spring

this should help him

k so if it is to tight would that restrict performance ALOT? cause i pulled like 2 1/2 cars on a boosted spec v lol i mean come on.. althought its stock exhaust

No, if anything it would help performance because it would be more likely to not leak. It does, however, affect the longevity of the turbo

i have an RS, it has two springs in it and i have done the single spring mod above and it helped. the RS is rated to handle more HP due to the fact it is usually used on bigger turbo setups becuase of the stiffer springs. there are a ton of vids on youtube showing the sound of what they are suppose to sound like, but they do not sound like surge or flutter for a fact.

I have the greddy type-s and did the single spring mod. The valve reacts better and faster in my experience with it. The adjustability of the top screw is better as well.

I put the second spring back in (smalled one) and it always surged. There was almost NO adjustability of the top screw before it would flutter. Granted it ran better in VTA with the 2 springs, and seemed to be tighter feeling when both springs were in, it would ultimately surge when ti went to blow off and seemed to react slower to opening when it was blowing off as well.

mine never fluttered with both springs in but i did the spring mod anyway just to see if i could feel a difference.

I didnt so after a couple weeks i threw the second spring back in and have been running it that way since. no probs at all

2 springs in my shit would always surge, sounded good at parking lot driveing to get the whistle, but once I got onto the freeway it was quiet and wouldnt open all the way/properly. 1 worked great for me tho, but each have their own experiences
