Hey Folks,
Driving around yesterday night, the car started to suddenly lossing all power past 4000 RPM, bad jerking, like hitting a wall. I suspect it is the wastegate. I did the "blow in the wastegate vaccum line" test and I am able to get some air in (not easily, but still). So does the verdict sound like dead wastegate?

Under boost. Boost builds up and then the sudden jerk and loss of power at ~4000 RPM. I can't really say if I suddenly loose boost since it's pretty violent and that's the type of thing that damages other componets when repeated. I am not 100% sure it is the wastegate, I was not super easy to blow air into it. If anybody else suspects anything else, share your thoughts

Ok.....now I am friggin puzzled....just took the car for a spin to see if it was holding boost.....the car runs like a champ!!!.....I must say it was raining heavily yesterday night, maybe it was an electrical problem....or maybe I repositioned the WGA vaccum when I tested it.....puzzled.....

Sounds like fuel cut to me. 4000 rpms seems to be about the magic number where fuel cut happens to people. Since it's caused by the MAF sensor maxing out, it's possible that moisture in the air was throwing off the MAFS signal and causing the fuel cut.

Nah, I know what fuel cut feels like. It was severe jurking. When I blew into the WGA, it made a little poping sound, as if something got back in place. I think the WGA is starting to leak and needs to be replaced in the near future.

Thread back to life. Again, rainy day over here. The car has no power under boost. Turbo seems to boost normal ~6psi. Today it feels more like fuel cut. Car runs fine under normal weather. Please help, want to trade in the car on Monday and I don't want it to run like shit. I would really appreciate detailed comments (what to check, tests, solution, etc).

What kind of intake do you have? IMO, it sounds like the MAFS is seeing a bit of moisture and the ECU is freaking out.

Probably fuel cut. Are you building to much boost?

Today I had the chance to inspect the car. It looks like the nipple going to the bpv is cracked. I'll replace the pipe and see how it goes.
