I have a set of aftermarket 17's on right now but im thinking of selling them and going back to the stock wheels. Since my stockers are spares for now I wanna paint the rims. What color do you think would go best with a silver p5 with tinted windows. Just leave the rims silver or another color? Pics are helpful as well

i say stay silver, when working with a silver car wheel colors can be tough imo

honestly, the trend is toward wild colors right now. if you (I mean you personally) can pull it off, do something fun... red? blue? any theme color you happen to have on the car? If thats not your style, black, bronze, gold, white... all viable on silver... I personally thing silver and black (maybe white) are probably the most versatile for wheel color choice.

I've been curious as to what a dark flat gunmetal would look like on 22v w/tint. I've seen a mazda6 wagon white with the gm stock rims that looks pretty good.

i'd say flat black, gunmetal, or leave it the stock silver. silver is a color that IS hard to match

Thanks. Your the first one to say something about it. Watch out for Caboose and fluffy kittys! Also Halo 3 and Griff ball is super fun.

My issue is I got silver rims, but i think i like the contrast of black on silver. They definitely dont look bad but i feel they could look better.

On a silver one I would definately go with dark silver or black, it gives it a slightly meaner look. Oh yeah, flat colors, not gloss!

i agree about the no gloss statement....if your badges and stuff is black, go black

Yep I agree, you might just tint the entire tail light if that is legal in your area.

I've basically got the same car as you. Haha.

These are my stockers painted flat black. Though I'm currently in the garage painting them semi-gloss black with a semi-gloss clearcoat. I can put up pics of them tomorrow if you like.

yah man, some more pics of the new paint job and the old would be awesome if you dont mind. I honestly think that looks better than my aftermarket rims.

This is semi-gloss black with a semi-gloss clearcoat. 5 coats of Rustoleum and 3 coats of Rustoleum clear coat. They turned out much more glossy than I wanted, but I actually kinda like them now. It matches the rest of the semi-gloss black I have on my car. If you're going to go with black wheels, I would suggest blacking out your badges and headlights too. It's really easy to do and makes everything match much better.

I just washed them really well with soap and water, let them dry completely and sprayed even coats of paint and clear. I layed them on an old sheet so I didn't spray paint the garage floor black too. I would spray a coat, then open the garage doors halfway for ventelation, wait 30 minutes, close the doors (it was windy as hell yesterday) spray another coat, open the doors. After 5 coats and the entire can of spray paint, I sprayed them with the clearcoat using the same process with 3 coats. Let them dry about 12 hours and mounted them back on.

Hey lewis, did you also paint under the wheel weight as well?
just wondering. cause it'll look funky with a non black spot when re balanced.

I've never liked flat black. I think it looks better semi-gloss or even a satin.

Nah. I wasn't trying to pry those little bastards off. Haha. I've painted them flat black before I had new tires put on them so they're still black under the weights. And if they get a bit chipped when I get new tires again I will just touch them up with some black detail paint.
