Hello thanks for reading

I just bought a MSP 85000 miles

when i accelerate it feels like the engine is chocking,
i can feel it slowing and than regaining power over and over again, this happens between 2.2k and 5.5k rpm's.

I've replaced my coils, spark plugs, and wires

from what i can tell the car looks stock besides a short ram intake

please help

Probably fuel cut

Could be a leak somewhere.. intake piping, intake itself, vacuum line, or maybe your MAF may need cleaned.. throwing any CELs?

Is it a violent loss of power (almost feels like you're hitting a wall repeatedly), or is it more gentle, maybe like sputtering?

Violent loss of power is fuel cut. Search this forum for 'fuel cut' for more information.

A choking, stuttering, type of thing may be a leak in the intake plumbing after the MAF sensor. Or maybe a vacuum leak somewhere, or a dirty (blocked) air filter, or a dirty MAF sensor.

We need more info to help you out here...try to explain what is happening in as much detail as possible.

it's more of a gentle loss, very noticeable though. Stuttering would be the best way to explain it.

another thing is it is less noticeable when the engine is cold

How would i locate a leak in the intake system?

If it's less noticeable when the engine is cold, it most likely is not fuel cut. Fuel cut happens when too much air is sucked in. It happens more often in colder weather or when the engine is not hot, as colder air is denser.

To detect a leak, you can put some soapy water on the intake plumbing (where each piece connects to another piece). While still under the hood, rev the engine by moving the throttle plate (on the throttle body) and look at all of the connections in the intake plumbing. If you see bubbles or a tiny bit of foam coming from a connection, that is where the leak is. Tighten up that connection.

Im still having the problem, Ive checked the intake but didnt see any leeks, Ive also replaced the wires, coils, and plugs. I put a new fuel screen and it helped but didnt fix so i put a new walbro pump in the problem seems to of gotten worse. I'm thinking with the increased pressure in the fuel lines it has made it worse do to a leak.

You guys have any ideas on a quick way to check for a fuel leak? I dont see or smell gas.

lets start off with the basics.

1) Do you have a boost/vac gauge? If so what is your vac at idel?
2) Any check engine lights?
3) any mods? if so what?

I'd start with that BPV nipple, check that and go from there. I popped off the charge pipe at the turbo outlet too so check all the clamps and couplers even the nipples to the vac lines.

get a can of Carb cleaner and spray it where all the piping meets different thing ie smic/turbo/throttle body... ect.. if there is a leak you will notice a rev in the rpms b/c its getting sucked in, you might have an injector stuck open or closed.. causing too much or too little fuel to get it!

maybe its your intake sometimes the plastic wears out around it were it connects to the turbo then it sucks air in and bypases the whole intake and filter

Check all the plastic intercooler piping.
