Last week I bought a P5 after too many months of waiting, and reading this forum, and more waiting. 2003, auto, 69k miles. Cleaned up the dirty headlight covers real nice with toothpaste and did the electric windows always on mod while I was replacing a fuse.
Anyway, a couple of days ago I revved it pretty high (not on purpose, I swear) and immediately lost an intake screw. The only issue I have now is a CEL and a slightly rough idle. I called the Mazda dealership and they can do the VICS recall next week. It's okay to keep driving though, right? Nothing more can happen unless I lose another screw? ...Obviously I'll be paying more attention to my rpms now.

uh. have it towed to your dealership, you have a screw bouncing around in one of your cylinders. you dont want to be driving it...

I rev the crap out of mine. If it couldn't handle it I would get a different car. Mine has 160k miles and runs great.

Shouldn't I be able to hear it if it was still in the cylinder? I heard it for a few minutes, then the noise stopped.

ohh krap....thats scary
honestly if you want you can always pull off the head and check....but im sure it'll be better if you stop driving it or atleast figure out if the screw is actually in the cylinder or not :D
better safe than sorry.

I don't know that much about taking apart cars. I guess I'll just stop driving it. Ugh. I seriously do not want to have it towed to the dealership.
