Hey, I'm the newish owner of a P5 (about one and half months now) and I use to have a '94 ford probe 4cyl SE model. Are the engines in these to cars the same? I remember back to the days when I spent a lot of time on probe talk and people were talking about the FS-03 motor. Is that the same as the FS-DE? I believe the FS-ZE is the JDM motor right? Any help would be nice. Also are there things to look out for witht he P5 engine? How do I know if my car was effected by the VTCS butterfly srew problem? Thanks

With added OBDII junk yes, same motor. I thought you could search by VIN for the recall info somewhere.

Similar motors. Different camshaft profiles, compression ratio, head casting differences, less power (earlier FS), etc. Will it bolt in? Sure. Is it worth it? Not really.

A: Check the VIN range of your car and compare it to the recall notice.
B: Remove your intake manifold and check the presence of the screws.
