What's the highest speed that your p5 can hit? Cause mine doesn't let me pass ninety, I think it has a limited, I bought it used

thats not right.

ive hit 110 before. it really doesnt have the power to get past that in a reasonable distance. even though 110 takes a ungodly amount of time.

I tried it in a quarter mile straight road. Apparently my friend said the rpm meter stopped moving once i hit 90 and it wouldn't let me go any faster, but my eyes were on the road, so i didn't get a good look at it. I gotta try it again soon

no this car does not max out at 90, nor is it limited to 90.

On my old P5 with intake and header, 128mph is the fastest I've been but if I had more road, could have hit low 130's.

i got ~120mph with a roof rack on and an intake. She had legs for at least 5 mph more but i was running out of road. A header would have really helped for sure.

I hit 125 before I started running out of road and pulled back. That was with a roofrack and just an intake.

EDIT: BTW, if you're going that fast, there should be NO ONE around you.

Absolutely true. And you should have visibility ahead and to the sides. I did it on a bridge. No risk to others and no chance something will jump out at me.

edit: good luck finding a track long enough for a P5 to max out :P

lol I would love to find a track that would let me get the P5 up to top speed. I haven't really gone over 90 for quite some time now and that's mainly because if there are any cars around me, I don't see a reason to put them in danger just because I feel like going fast. There's fun and then there's stupid. There's a real fine line between the two.

Isn't there a long standing discussion over whether the car has a governor or not?

Um, not at 127... I've never had my P5 above 110 (around where 4th tops out) but 5th gear is good for like 165+ mph technically (the member 'Rogue' did a detailed calculation a while back). This is a heavily debated topic with the MSPs though. Still no reason to go that fast on public roads and unless you're on a NASCAR circle track, you're never going to see those speeds on a track either.

before my header, i went a little less than 180km/h but with my header on, i was able to go up to 190 and i felt like i could have gone a little higher(118mph). intake, header, muffler, on 16inches

ive hit 127. It took some long strech on a professional track

the ignition shut off with a governer like action.

It was a 6 lane (3 on each side) at 1am. I'm deathly afraid of bridges so the less time i spend on them the better!

maxed mine out all stock at 125 with four people in the car(took forever to get there) late at night on a long straight a long time ago. it def. had more to go but lacked the power(who knew lol).

as said before, if you want to go see how the fast the car goes, take it to the track guys, but the highest a 5-speed can hit is 134. here is proof that it can hit 130 and still has room until the rev limiter.

http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z23/stnjp01/130mph.jpg

but as i said again, go to the track guys, if your doing over 100 on public roads you need to think again...

The issue I worry about at that speed is not the road danger, but that fact that the engine is running sustained high RPMs...into the 120s, it takes minutes to climb a few MPH, all the while your engine is screaming. I wouldn't trust her to hold together!

well it actually felt strong up there and didnt feel like anything was gonna fall apart in that rpm range. but the car was still fairly new so everything was mechanically sound on it. like i said it was a long time ago.

I hit 110 once, when I got the car to make sure it could handle the speed and since then have never taken it over 90.

I see no need to ever go that fast again. If I am in that big of a hurry then I shouldn't be a retard and go suicidal by doing overly excessing speeds!!

I have hit 117mph on two seperate occasions. Once traveling on an Interstate-20 in Texas and once on 635 in Dallas. If you are afraid of people speeding then don't travel on 635 cause it just might be me blowing by you. I usually do 80-90mph going to work on 635. My car feels very comfortable at that speed. I once did about 105mph with a fully loaded down p5 with two guys both weighing over 200lbs and I had 60lbs subwoofer box in the trunk and it was on country backroads. Go ahead and flame all you want, your not going to change my habits. Also never had a speeding ticket though many oppurtunities to get one speeding past cops.

widgit117

The cops here are just as strict but my general rule is always be behind someone going faster than you that way the cops chase them and not you.

Depends on which city you're in. Houston's speed limit is 60-65 on the freeways. People generally do 70. HPD has better things to worry about than pulling everyone over doing less than 10 over. In Dallas, you run a solid 85+ on the freeway. Not sure how that works. Outside of town, the po-dunk PD's jump at the chance to pull you over for +5mph or for just a burned out license plate bulb.

I've squeezed 120 indicated with a clean K&N drop-in, new timing belt, new motor mounts, new NGK's, new Falken's, 1/4 tank of gas, and a 20-30kt tail wind. If I remember right, the RPM's were at or above 5k. Not sure it's capable of 130 unless your going down hill too...

I apologize, he got under my skin. As to the 85+ on a Dallas freeway, its more or less correct. I would stipulate though you need to be away from Addison as the cops there like to show off their expensive rides with the flashing red and blue.

Due to the very nature of this thread it should have been closed from the start. I'm glad my post got deleted yet the posts outlining "how to speed" remain. This site is getting worse every day...

They're great! They like it when you try to escape, it gives them a chance to practice their driving drills, then after you can all go have some beers together. Or if you're a chick, just flash em. They dig that.
