Several have. Make an extra and I'll buy it from you!! Be sure it's atleast 2.5" 3" prefered!!. You could always take the one you have off and mock up a new one. The problem lies in how you do the bends. A normal crinkle bender isnt going to cut it though, It'll be worse off then the stocker as far as flow goes. you need either mandrel bends or each angle cut and welded and the inside grinded smooth

Alot of people made them on this board. If i could weld and can afford the downtime i sure would! But dont have the tools, and make the bends mandrel, because in the end it will be MUCH better! I need a 3" exhaust...... haha

I am planning on building one sometime in the next couple months. I wasn't planning on doing much to the msp, but I will be doing a lot of welding and fab work in the near future and I figure a downpipe is small potatoes in comparison. What would they be worth if they are stainless, mandrel bends, 3"?

I have one that I bought used from a forum member. Its a very simple, nice piece. If I were you, I'd buy a S/J pipe combo from the for-sale forum, it'd probly cost you $60 tops. Use it as a template for your custom job and sell it back on the forums once you're done.

I'm simply shocked that 6 years has gone by and nobody has made a mass produced simple downpipe (sure corksport has one, but I'm talking just a shop somewhere just making a batch of 10 of 'em or so.)

the problem with bending 3in steel, or any pipe for that matter, is that the bends start to crimp off. or ribbed on the inside of the bend, without using a stretching motion... Ive attepted it several times at work on a mandral only to get close then nothing but disapointment...

and there were a few companies that made a 2 inch... GHL was one of them but it was crazy expensive... and you had to order it and wait...

do i really need to change the S pipe or can i just go from the J pipe back and im gonna put a high flow cat in front of the o2 censor is that gonna make my engine light come on

GHL and ION both came with a 3" downpipe, all other ones only are custom made.... I wish I could get a GHL system :(

My CS downpipe is cut in alot of places to keep the pipe from wrinkling. So i think that is what you will have to do also.

The S pipe is really restrictive, but its a pain to replace. I have a high flow cat and haven't had a CEL. I previously had the corksport catless exhaust and did the CEL fix and got rid of it. its easy and cost??? $20 bucks? So don't worry about and exhaust CEL, they a super easy to get rid of, if you even get one.

basically every option has been mentioned here, except one...

terbow is working on mocking up production parts, both a 2.5" and 3" DP, as well as a tubular manifold.

yeah but that dp of his is pricey unless it's droped again *crosses Fingers*

Pricing:

Downpipes:

2.5" $250-$350 is doable. This will include bracing (unlike ANYTHING on the market currently) and an 02 bung for tuning. I will get actual pricing once i get something modeled.

3.0" will be somewhere in the 300-400 range, same ordeal. Bracing and 02 Sensor bung. I will try to work the pricing so if u get unterminated but longer and a diamond flange to not cost more. again i will get actual pricing once i get closer.

Manifold 800-1000. This will include all stock provisions (EGR/02, etc) and a one of a kind bracing system. The bracing will allow for the manifold to provide years of extended service and avoid cracking that is so common with other manifolds. This manifold will be not only virtually modeled and flowed but i will beat the crap out of it personally (Im a brown belt in kung fu so this mani can expect many punches to its FACE!). Both physically and in normal conditions. This unit will be the LAST manifold you will need and want. That is my goal. Everything will be made for our car specifically. From the flanges to the runner size to the bracing... all of it. Again, i will get an exact price as soon as i can.

see I'm pretty sure I can get one made for cheaper than 300.

only problem is... dealing with backfire issues... I would just do a 45 degree bend to another 45 degree to the mid pipe, but I think that would cause some problems...

Another local MSPer and myself are looking into getting one made at a local shop. (saw an equal length B-series mani.. OMG was it beautiful) His car has a smoked rod bearing anyway, so the downtime won't hurt him... and I'm sure making 2 in a row would end up being cheaper than doing a single one-off. We'd considered putting together a GB... but who knows if we'll be motivated.

theres not enough clearance for that simple of a design. Corksport didn't make theirs out of like 15 pieces because it was more fun. lol

well shat lol I havent looked at clearances yet... I was going to have one mocked to the stock, but I dont like it I think I can eliminate at least one of the 90 degrees in it... and I wont be able to look at it again this weekend, I'll be up in Manhatten with my buddy that just got back from Iraq, I can put off working on the MSP for that, an hes gotta go back over next week, so we gotta party it up...

and an even lenth mani shouldnt be to hard... I just though of moving the Turbo over to the center of the block, has anyone tried that route?

again, clearances. I don't think anyone has made and equal length mani that wasn't a full race app one-off part.

from what I remember from a week ago was the cleances were good to move the turbo but youd have to find a way to make the dp to fit around the block... either way not easy. and I rmember an equal length mani thread... and it was all loopy and crazy looking...
