My car is backfireing like CRAZY!
i hear it every shift, and downshift. Not always that loud but i can always hear it.
My mods are vibrant, FMIC, Upgraded T-25.
Car was flashed a couple years ago.
I know its running really rich i am installing my wideband when i get time.
Will another flash help?
I do not want to waste money on an ecu because im swapping motor's in 8 months.

mine does too. CEL for emissions but its brand new...i think the Vibrant just does that sometimes but it doesn't bother me too much.

No like its bad, like crazy rich. I think the car should be much quicker then it is right now.
Yes im running a BOV.......

Will re-flashing do anything for me?
Is a tuner able to do anything at all with the stock ecu?

My car backfires. All MSP's run rich as hell. I have the vibrant also.

Nope. The Vibrant has a hi-flow.

k my question,
Is there a way to somewhat tune the ecu?
I got a flash done a few years back before all the mods.
I am just trying to actually use the power that i should be getting.
Thanks all for the help.

Something is wrong, even with a open down pipe my car dont backfire everytime i shift or somthing. i mean it does it sometimes usually its more of a gargle than a actually boom. Get that wideband in ASAP and see what the deal is.

Im swapping my motor in 8 months so i dont want to waste money on that. Probably going to go haltech.

So there is no way to "tune" the stock ecu?

Nope. Some type of piggy back is required. These arent german cars, you cant just "chip" the stock ecu. You might as well deal with it, wait for your motor swap and go stand alone :)

ok thanks, thats what i thought.
So a re-flash probably wont do much either then ?

If your ecu is already re-flashed, it won't change anything.

My car backfires alot because of the bov creating a ultra rich A/F between shifts and it ignites in the hot exhaust. You should get some kind of tuning solution because the msp runs so damn rich and also relocate or recirculate your bov and that should solve your problem

Bingo.

If you're venting the BOV you need to run the "dual set-up", or relocate the MAF. OR you can recirculate the air and keep your MAF where it is. This is likely your issue. The more info you give, the better we can help you...
