Congrats on the Protege purchase, sorry to hear about the motor though. It sounds like you might have gotten screwed on the car unless you bought it dirt cheap. I would have contacted the seller about it.
Also is this car silver with a small amount of damage? I'm asking because I live in Denton and regularly see some of our local P5's. There was a silver one for sale not long ago.

New motor
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/gizkat2003/IMG00107.jpg
found after pulling it we took valve cover off and someone either put tranny fluid or diesel fuel in the oil I guess to quiet it down to hide the fact that the motor was bad cant prove it talked to a lawyer cause I was going to sue the previous owner due to false advertising but after talking to him it wouldnt be worth the money I would be out to sue I do need a passenger side rear door and a set of plastics caps so I can remove the rack if someone has some they might trade or sell let me know prefer a yellow door if possible this is a pic of old motor

You wasted no time on that engine swap. Nice job.
That previous owner knew he was gonna get away with it. Cost to sue has kept me from filing lawsuits in the past.

i bet the guy had used some really cheap oil and let it run for long times....diesel isn't so bad as it'll clean out all the passenges and lubricate.....but that s just gunked up bad....
i did flush the trucks motor wth diesel....no harm

118000 on motor I am guessing it clogged the oil pump but not sure I am not worrying about it motor in the car now is good so no biggie lesson learned
