Has anyone painted their MSP a different color???

You should be punched in the face for even asking this. How dare you?

I've thought about it actually at one time. If mine wasn't a Spicy. I would like a flat black MSP (which has been talked about from some other member on here). If I had a black mica (which wouldn't be too far a stretch) I would paint it flat black.

my question is why someone would want to change the stock color of a msp, they look good stock, unless you want do do something crazy for a show, then I say it's not worth it unless u are repainting it stock.

there are a few repainted... but most of the "MSP"s that you see that aren't one of the stock colors are non-MSPs with MSP kits on them. I don't mean to sound purest, but what would be the sense in changing the color of a limited production car?

Edit: if you have a reason for painting it (lots of chips, accident, hail damage, etc) I guess I could see it... but for the most part... a GOOD paint job is expensive and I just don't see it as worth it for what you end up getting. if the color is that important to you, buy something thats already a color you like.

I dont know shit about paint, would multiple coats of clear (to provide protection for the paint) change the paint color?

by the definition of clear, no. However it would probably change how the metallic flake in our paint looks....

From my understanding, us lucky.... errr... "lucky" ones that have a Spicy were (without our consent) given two different variations of Spicy. It's my understanding that there is both a light version of the Spicy and a darker. Can anyone confirm this?

All of them used the same paint code.

I'd paint it stock color or a tasteful two tone.

All of them used the same paint code.

I understand that but I've seen mine then I've seen others and they look completely different. I know mine's been rear ended (twice: once before me and once with me, both under 5 mph and only the bumper was affected). So...?

I've thought this cause I've seen one that was a very pale version of the spicy and have also seen a nice rich spicy at another point in time...but then again one could have been really faded from sun or something

Well I was asking because I wanted to know And I think I will stick to stock paint but is the color called yellow mica and what is the paint code?

SleepyMSP

can't remember for sure but careful with the yellow mica, the code isn't exact and also the paint is a 3 layer paint. base, pearl then clear

Ricktalife

it's called "blazing yellow mica," and the code is on the sticker in the driver side door jamb. don't remember it off hand...

my paint job has a few rough spots and i've definitely considered repainting. sticking to yellow... or a white MSP would be flippin' hot! and, call me crazy, but is my hood a different color than the rest of my car? sorta bugs me...

The hood was replaced maybe? the Yellow from the P5 is not as shinny as the yellow from the MSP, so that could be a P5 hood. ORRRRRRR its just how the sunlight reflects.

not yellow

could have been replaced by the previous owner(s)... i have no way of knowing. i definitely notice the difference in the hood pretty regularly. the door handles have the same lighter tone as well.

yeah he was talkin about it on the "what have you done to your MSP" thread a few months ago because he knew a guy who could do it cheap. he even photoshopped it and it looked good imo

not yellow

yeah that looks like the p5 hood....especially after a few years without a clear coat....that's what mine looked like before i claybared the hell out of it and waxed it really good....

and the door handles fade 10 times worse than the metal....actually all the plastic pieces that are yellow will fade faster than the rest of the body....it's sad

my hood looks like a different color than the rest of the car at times too. but I had the whole car resprayed at the same time so i know its not the case. Just how the sun hits it at different angles i think. Its laser blue one minute, then purple ish the next. i think its cool.

The only variations in color on my Spicy that I notice is the bumpers. Now as I've said, the rear has been repainted and most know the joys of color matching the Spicy is more headache than you would like to bear. However, the front bumper does it too. However, I know it's just the way you see it from a standing position. Once you kneel down you see the paint different.

im gonna cast my vote for this too, the roof of the car looks like it matches the hood, so prolly the sunlight. I've apparently been diagnosed with a "color deficiency" though so dont hold me to it...haha

you could if you used clearcoat as a mid coat and added some pearl or metallic into the clear.

I dont know shit about paint, would multiple coats of clear (to provide protection for the paint) change the paint color?
