So I'm trying to find out if the MSP requires premium fuel (couldn't find anything in the forum search). And if so, does anybody ever try running regular?

i usually run 92, but i found a station that sells 93 for practically the same price, it was only about 5 cents more per gallon.

With regular the motor will go boom!!! don't even attempt it, your car needs that extra octane, as much of it as possible within reason....AKA don't go running racing gas with a proper tune

Shell has 93 Octane. and yeah I let a friend borrow my car once, and he ecided to fill it with regular... and yeah, it ran like shit compared to 93. and for some reason I hit fuel cut the whole week it was in there, I dont think that makes sence but I swear I did, gas milage droped too.

if you did... you would get pre detonation anytime you hit boost and just ruin the motor lol

The higher octane means its more resistant to igniting, for those of you that never really knew.

I knew a guy with a msp, Who ran regular for a long time. I think maybe 8 to 10 months. And his car ran crap, he drove like a dumb ass. But some how his lucky ass self still has a motor. When me and my buddy heard that he used regualr, and saw him put regular in it. We had to ask the question, "WTF are you stupid?" hahaha Lucky bastard

Here in Idaho, we have a select few places that offer 95 octane. Hoping once I get some more AutoX in me and seat time, I will be making the switch to 110 octane race gas. It's nice not having to drive the car during the week, even though I'm approaching 100k on the odometer. I will hate the day that happens.

Unless I was about to be stranded, there is NO WAY I'd EVER put regular in my car (or any turbo'd car for that matter). Bleck!!

stay out of boost if you fill up with regular!!!!

Actually, if one were to tune for 87 Octane, it would be safe to run, albeit one would make less hp. Timing would have to be pulled, and more fuel added. A local guy has a 700+ HP turbo Mustang that is tuned for 87 Octane. It can be done, but I never recommend it.

I ran 87 for a long time on my Nitrous car until fuel came back to ~$2.25 for 93.

91 is the standard for Premium in Quebec. 94 at PetroCanada...it's like feeding filet mignon to my car.....

Speaking of octane, just installed Cable for the VP of the Northwest region for VP race fuel. He is hooking me up with race gas, time to go back to the tuning board. lol

There are a few 76 stations that sell 100 at the pump and a few that only sell 5 gal drums. There are more NorCal than SoCal though.

i always see 93 at the pumps in tn! question? some buddies were talking about mixing racing fuel with 93. like 1 gallon of racing and filling the rest of the car up with 93? how effective is this?

2-8-1
06-07-2009, 06:55 PM
It's not. You might get 94 octane by doing 1 gallon of 104/110 and the rest with 93. I usually see 1 part race fuel to 2 or 5 parts gasoline. You MUST make sure that the racing fuel has the SAME SPECIFIC GRAVITY that standard 93 Octane Gasoline has, or it will NOT mix properly and you will get, at the very least, inconsistent performance.

06-07-2009, 06:58 PM
It's not that bad, it mixes pretty well sloshing around in the tank as you drive and from returning to the tank from the regulator.

Yeah, I think I got a little over excited perhaps. Anyway, generally at any decent race shop, the "race fuel" will be the same gravity as pump gasoline. We have a few stations on the way to the local track that sell 104. Its the same gravity as 93.
