View Full Version : Boost issue?

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could give me some advice...

Today while driving home from work it didn't seem like my turbo was working correctly.......

I usually get spooling around 2500-3000 rpm and today it didn't seem like my turbo was kicking in at all. I decided to rev it up and see and it didn't really kick in until around 4000-4500rpm and even when it got going it didn't seem right.

The only mods I have are a Boost Gauge (mech) and and Injen CAI......

My gauge has VAC at 20, and still boosts to 6psi but it doesn't boost unless I'm running up the rpm's......

Anyone experience this same issue??

Thanks

You should check your Wastegate Actuator, The gold thing on the turbo that has a vacuum line to it. Breath through the vacuum line and if air goes through it, you need a new one.

Jeanspeed does have a bad turbo and actually a bad manifold. The turbo may hold up on him for a while but its smoking.

I know people that have gone though a few turbos. I think platinum is on his 3rd or 4th turbo. Flypinoy has gone through at least 1 and is on his second. I just kept going through wastegate actuators and got fed up with that.

They drive normally, socal does have very erratic traffic though. Its normal for us though.

I'm moving up to the GT28RS now, but I think thatll be good until the car is payed off only 11 more months lol, then I can get to work on the Miata and have to capable daily drivers then just go crazy on the mx5
