wheel bearings/bushings

hey all just a quixk question, does our car have issues with this, i was told that my driver front wheel needs new bushings/bearings, and to be honest its rather nasty sounding. also does any body have an estimated cost to fix this..

ok, i bearings just got my bearings replaced on both driver and passanger sides of the front, it drives great going straight, but when i make a shap turn it screetches like 2 metal plates grinding together, this cant be good. should i go back to the shop?
does this sound like the bearings?
