I've been using Falken ZIEX ZE 512 235/40/18s for the past 2 years on Rims of 18" x 7.5" with an offset of 45. I'm happy that it does not rub except for really heavy loads. Only thing I'm not that happy with is the gap.

I've been thinking of replacing the tires with 225/45/18. Will these look better? Will they rub?

Thanks for any info....

I have 225/45x18 General UHPs on my `05 6i with my OEM Speed6 18x7 wheels and it looks great with no rubbing at all. Your 18x7.5 "might" be ok if the offset isn't too bad...
