I dont really understand your post.

why? cut out the cats, put in a straight pipe.. weld in an o2 bung...

the stock sized piping is nearly the same size as the corksport. the CS comes without cats...

I dont really understand your post.

gettin rid of the cats and getting an 02 trick thing, and buying a corksport... guess the corksport gets rid of the cats to begin with huh?

I think he's asking if cutting out the cats and running a straight pipe will equal the gains seen from the corksport exhaust?? Atleast that's what I read after rereading twice LOL. If that is the case. I'm running a catless midpipe to the stock MSP catback. I know the corksport would be an upgrade for my set-up. Now if your looking to just run a straight pipe and no cat-back section?? I have no clue but I know it will be loud!!. If you plan on keeping it under 10 psi on the stock turbo, the 2.5 Corksport will be a great addition. If you plan bigger turbo or more boost, then go ahead and get a 3" like the vibrant. Although I would prefer a catless Vibrant!!

If you are just running a catless mid pipe that ends where the catback begins. It's going to be loud as shit and really not sound too well. Plus all that exhaust will be coming back into your car AKA Carbon monoxide poisoning. I can't begin to Phathom the risk of injury during a long commute or stop and go traffic..( I had a patient that passed out while driving and crashed due to this) Picking up a Catless mid-pipe would be a great start and mount it to the stock cat-back. It has a nicer tone then stock and you can tell it freed up some power. The SLS unit that Protegegarage sells is good bang for the buck unless you can find a used one on here...that's what I did.

Vibrant has a Cat, Corksport has none. I don't understand your question...Even I can't decifer that one!! LOL are you asking how an exhaust works??? The Corksport with a deleted cat Flows much better then stock. The vibrant with a Cat out flows both stock and corksport. Corksport is 2.5" vibrant 3"!!

the vibrant system definetely provides awesome sound and gains for the money. that being said, you will see gains from cutting out or gutting out the cats.

I used to have the corksport and the sound is amazing. Your better saving up the money and just dont it right the first time or you'll be paying for it again.

If I were to do it again I'd go to an exhaust shop and have a custom 3" turbo back system made.

I have a Perrin 3", no cats or anything. I have gotten lot's of compliments on the sounds of my exhaust.

bah posted before I could lol, but I agree w/twistiert, I had the vibrant on my first car (and ya I want one of those too Zuku26, I think there are 2 people that have the vibrant test pipe, wonder how I could get my hands on that..?), but it sounds great, and I have the CS exhaust system too on my 2nd Spicy but I wanted the cat so I didn't have to deal with the emissions or trying to rig the O2 sensor so it didn't give a CEL, it just wasn't worth it for me, but anyways, from what I understand his questions was the gains of gutting stock system vs. CS system which doesn't have cats, as said above just save up the money if you can and get either Vibrant or CS, it's really up to you, they both sound great, if you don't want or have that many mods, and don't mind working out the O2 CEL issue the CS is a good exhaust and less expensive, or you can always just gut the stock system, it will free it up as said before, but CS is going to flow better (even though they are about the same size, I assume that CS's design/make is better overall), than the larger Vibrant, or like what I have which is Vibrant with CS s-pipe (first), just depends on money, just don't get something that you plan to replace later on.
-also just to add, if you stop the exhaust before the cat-back section, and even if you routed a pipe out to the side, it would sound crazy loud and like a lawnmower on steroids, and not in a good way..

-wrote a little more than I intended but oh well, these are just my opinions though

.

with the right people doing this, this is surely the most economical way to go
