anybody know anything bout this mas shit

i have a 1999 mazda 626 4cyl 2.0 and i put an intak on it and the harness for the mass air flow sensor was cut and put back on before i got the car and before i could fix the wires they touched together and smoked and i pulled them apart really fast well now when you plug the sensor in the car dies when its unplugged the car runs fine and i have replaced the mas already so i know thats not it i put a code reader on it and it said low mass air flow input ????? and does that factory metal thing have to have the mas on it or will one of those adapters work cuase thats wats on it right now and it seemed to work better wit tha factory one but if the sensor is not plugged in the car runs good but check engine light stays on which i cnt get isp so if anyone knows more than me please let me know wat to do if i got to ill go get another ecu but idk if this one is bad

You may be able to repair it if it's not to bad, take that wires out of the plastic cover and go as far back as it takes. To do a proper repair you may need to replace that part of the harness, but a repair will make it driveable.
