First Oil Change

Hey guys, I am new to this forum as I just purchased an '09 Mazda 3 black on black 2.0L sedan for a steal as these rebates are being pushed on the 2009's. My question is when should the first oil change be done? In the actual book it states that it should be done at 7.5K miles, this seems a little high to me and I have never heard of such high intervals between oil changes even on synthetic oil. I think 5K seems to make more sense at which point I will probably throw synthetic in it. What do you think?

Welcome to the forums. I'm assuming they put regular oil in your car instead of synthetic oil. I would suggest around 3k.
