i have a 03.5 msp and i am having misfireing problems. to give u a idea i have a spipe back exhaust by vibrant and a cold air intake. not much else is done besides engine mounts. now i have done everything i can think of. last year after i bought the cari had this problem but worse i took it to the dealership to get fixed and they put new wires and coils in, a new fuel pump, new cat which has been replaced again when i got my exhaust, and a new maf sensor and i have changed the spark plugs several times. now i only have this problem once it gets cold out. during the summer it is fine i have no problems but once the winter hits boom i have misfireing problems. i have cleaned the egr and the throttle bottle. does anyone have any other ideas of how ican fix this problem.

well whats weird is when i am driving its usually fine sometimes when i am in 5th gear i will have to down shift then it will go away its mainly really bad at idel and i will like acceclerate through it. for examplei will be driving and its missfiring real bad then all of a sudden the car takes off and the misfire goes away till say i reach a normal speed or go back to being at a still at idel

From that description it may be a bad coil, but again? That would seem odd. They replaced all those parts at the dealer because they were bad or because they were trying to find the problem.

Maybe a lose MAF, it's hard to say but only when it's cold would seem like fuel cut.

thats why I was asking him when it cut out at, I was thinking it was just fuel cut for it being cold...

Does the car lag and feel slow?

I've seen more and more of these cars with bad coils recently. Platinum text me over the weekend that he finally figured out his lag issue from weeks. It was a bad coil there too.

Yeah it'll do that if it's misfiring of course but is it subtle that it's low on power? I think you do have a bad coil. They aren't that expensive if it's not the problem consider it preventive maintenance.

I had a phantom misfire problem recently, but it ended up being a faulty wire (even though it showed the correct resistance when I ran a multimeter on it). I see you've already replaced the wires though...

Are you sure you are getting enough fuel or too much fuel causing the plugs to foul out?
