OK so I was thinking of putting on some OBX headers meant for a 2.0L protege because I guess most 2.0L stuff fits on 1.8L's............well I was thinking OBX headers on the stock exhaust would be cool, would do you guys think? I know how to fix the CEL issue and whatnot. Now I had a catback on for a couple years and grew sick of it because it was loud(I figure if I want to drive fast on backroads, which I do alot.....why call all that attention to myself??) and it didnt really seem to give much power to make it worth it. So I was wondering if anyone has done what Im thinking of doing?(OBX header with stock exhaust) or if anyone knows of a video clip with the sound differences...? thank you!

Good question, I'd assume the headers will make your stock exhaust loud regardless. Now not nearly as loud as an after market exhaust.

Why bother? Stock 1.8 header isnt that bad.
Unless your chasing a high target better value can be found in cams.

well I really dont want to open up the engine anywhere cuz its got 110k on it and has full compression and doesnt burn any oil/coolant, etc. I pretty much just want to get better mpg and give it some zip. also correct me if Im wrong but wont a set of headers also remove some weight off the front?

yes, it will remove some weight off of the front...
and yes, the 2.0 obx header will fit on a 1.8, i have one on mine, the only thing is the first primary O2 sensor prob wont fit due to a transmission wire... or at least make sure you put in the O2 sensor first then try to install it...just a thought.
but i only had my stock exhaust on for a little bit with the obx headers, but i really liked the sound, nice and deep but not too loud!

Sweet dude, thanks for the help. By the way, do you know anything about ebay headers? My buddy is trying to convince me to not spend the money on the obx's cuz he put some on his honda("headers are headers"), now Im not a total noob but Im on a limited budget cuz im in school and whatnot....

unless it's just from a reputable store on ebay, i wouldn't get order from there... there are some things on ebay that are good tho, just remember: you get what you pay for with cars and car parts!
for a non turbo car, the obx headers are you best bet, i think really good quality too, i'm sure you can find one on here for prob about 150 or so, these are pretty easy to put in too!
anything else?
