So one of the foglights on my Protege ES (with an MSP bumper) went out. The bulb is still ok (tested with a 9V battery), and I purchased another bulb just to be sure.
When I measure the voltage across the postive and negative wires to the foglamp with the bulb disconnected, I get a reading of 9.0-9.5V. However, soon as I touch the positive lead of the bulb to the positive wire to the foglamp to complete the circuit, the voltage across the bulb drops to 0V and the light does not turn on.
I'm suspecting a short circuit somewhere that's sucking up the voltage as soon as the circuit is completed. Any thoughts?
