Sooo last night my lady and I decide to go out for dinner until... (five-0) decides to crash the lovely plans. I was driving normal so I was actually really curious as to why I was pulled over. He says its cause of my " POP OFF VALVE! ", I chuckled a lil. K got me there with the blow off valve and that was fine. But wait wait...him and his partner don't stop there....apparently my dashhawk is a " programmer chip " and I have a aftermarket exhuast cause the exhuast tip is aftermarket even though I argued it was the stock tip(muff and res mod)....by this point im more embarassed than anything. This is all going down at a movie theater parking lot with the release of "Fast and the Furious"...perfect. Even a local car shop owner walked by and told the cops the exhaust looks stock. These f@cken rookies even called back up(uhm). Anyways long story short i get written up for "pop off valve" haha, modified exhuast, and no front plates...which I argued cause I just recieved a fix-a-ticket for the plate last week. He still wrote me up. Price of car modifying pleasure, I know. I normally have no issues with cops but these young noobs with uniform really irritated me. I respect officers but these bastards wouldnt know the meaning of respect.
All in all I have to see a state ref and I was wondering if the exhaust(yes, modded by res and muff removal) would be an issue by state ref? Will it pass??

They were only giving you because you were near a Fast and the Furious release. Any other day would have been fine, but everyone knows F&F release nights are a haven for fix-it-ticket cops.

This is why Cali fails. Damn socialist hippie bastards. I'm glad I don't live there anymore. But as Renzo said, it's becuase of the F&F premiere

When i got rolled it never even crossed my mind...which is my fault. Makes sense cause on the way back from dinner I saw a white eg pulled over with his hood popped @ the exact same spot and right across the street at arco gas station were about 5-6 cop cars meeting. Wish i would have thought of the realease of FF before I left the house.
So how do you guys feel about ref vs the exhuast mod?

Well, you will fail the ref if you don't have a muffler.

sob...think ill pass if I get the muff welded back? Would a res or 2 removed affect a refs decision you think?

well, if you put the muff back on, it's up to the fact if its too loud or not then. He will test to see if its quiter than 93-95dB

its wonderful when out of state people give information on california state ref.
legally you cannot alter the OEM parts. however, it is legal to have an aftermarket exhaust system if its under 95db at i believe 50feet with the rpms at 3.5k (there are statutes that give the exact information, but im too tired to find them)
You might be SOL on modifying the stock parts, but as with anything in our lovely state, gotta pay to play.
I love it here, wouldnt move to any other state.

Don't know if that was pointed towards me or now, but FWIW, I lived and grew up in cali for 18 years, so... I might know a thing or two.
And have you ever been to any other state. Or lived in any other? I love breathing fresh air and not being policed on every damn thing I do. California is good for two things, national parks/drives and the race tracks out there.

Yea, I love CALI! wouldn't want to be anywhere else so I def accept pay to play. I don't mind paying cause laws are laws but I just hate the inconvience of state refs. Haha, not to mention parts juggling with my car. Had so much to install this weekend....

The cop was telling me that no stock car is as loud as mine...haha then a bone stock SRT4 drives by. Once again I get my laughs.

A comedian once said that they populated California by lifting up the eastern end of the country. Anybody who didn't have a grip rolled to the west coast. VA >> CA... hmmm... just observing.
Having lived in Cali for over 9 years and having just returned from a business trip out there, I can safely say I won't be moving back.

Yeah I had no choice, I retired here from the Military but now I love Southern Cali. I have one resonator removed, still have stock muffler. Been here a wile and granted the Popo tends to hassle some cars, its all good. :)
