Just wanted to put this info into one place.

Purchase the ribon cable part number: J86-0021-05 from www.pacparts.com (http://www.pacparts.com)

Then follow instructions on the how to thread: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123622830

Spend less than $20 to repair your HU instead of having to buy a new HU if you feel so inclined.

PS: Full parts list for the KDC-MP919: Link (http://www.pacparts.com/model.cfm?mfg=KENWOOD&model_id=KDCMP919&back=0&action=list_part&CFID=2661805&CFTOKEN=11115841)

Glad I searched for this before I started target practice on this thing with the .45

I still REALLY like this deck...

Well, mine finally crapped out and I'll probably go and fix it now. But what's with $11 shipping for a $10 part? Jeebus man!

PS. Anyone have any idea how to get a CD out of the broken radio? Do I have to have power to it still or is there another way?

Well I got the CD out after taking the drive itself out of the radio. So Far it doesn't seem like it should be too hard of a fix.

Hardest part is winding up the cable properly...

Gosh, I apparently have been without a radio since August!

I think I will have to give this one a try. My radio is long out and sitting on a shelf in my garage. I really miss it. Too bad it has this problem. Maybe I should buy more than 1 replacement part just to be safe in case it happens again.
