Just got my 2010 mazda 3 sport on the weekend, Its the gs, has the 2.5 L fully loaded, moon roof etc, its my first mazda and i love it, pictures to come soon just waiting for to get a new camera!

Purchased my 2010 Mazda 3 i touring April 16th Graphite Mica, black cloth interior. I will post pics soon. I ended up getting the windows tinted, getting factory fog lights put in, and an aftermarket OEM rear lip spoiler is arriving today. I love the car.

Got my new Mazda3 a couple of weeks back - gunmetal blue, Bose, 6-speed, moonroof, grand touring

After 1100 miles:

Good points - looks, suspension, those swiveling Xenons at night :)

Bad points - gutless at low rpms, slow tip-in on throttle, DSC comes on too soon for regular spirited driving (gotta keep it turned off most of the time), 6th a bit hard to get into, spring for 5th/6th gate a smidgen too strong (gets hung on gate from 5/6 easily).

Wanna: recalibrate throttle tip-in, boost low-end torque.

Can anybody comment on the seat quality? Also, how do you find the headlights? (non-xenon models, because obviously the HIDs kick ass) I'm curious because as a Protege owner, my car has some of the nicest headlights I've ever experience on a car.

Car looks great wingzero, although if possible, I do have a couple of requests.

I had read somewhere that some Mazda3's have blue lights under the dash. If yours has this, could you try to post pics?

Also a pic of the grill (smile) and the main center A/C controls/radio/cd player area would be much appreciated if possible. Thanks so much, and that car shines like no other!!

As for the whore lights, I will try to get a pick later on. It's too bright here atm (1pm). In case anyone notices, the difference in license plates is a funny story. The government messed up and printed three of the same, so in my package I got two different ones. The dealer didn't notice putting them on, and I didn't notice until the next day. It being a new car and all I was focused on that.

LOL whore lights... Thanks for the pics bro. Car is clean as all hell and the smile is barely recognizable on dark colors. Do you like the blue light strip in the audio controls considering everything else is red??

Hicks call the ambient lighting on the floor "whore lights". I am at work and don't have a camera so I will have to get that pic later on.

Yeah the blue is nice, and the gauges turn blue/red at night so it mixes in.

Nice car, I miss my old 04 White HB, makes me want to get a new one.

You should really wear some socks with those flip\flops, it would make for an awesome effect. They do look comfy though.

As I get older, and as my hair keeps falling out the "I-don't-give-a-crap-o-meter" gets stuck on high (about my looks). Thanks for the laugh though. I think if I put on socks then I will have to pull my shorts up past my belly button. That would complete the look!

Hello everyone!

I am new to this site.

I just picked up my new 2010 Mazda 3 Sport today!! (cabpatch)

I got the Liquid Silver with black interior, sunroof, Bose/6-disc changer. I love it and have gotten alot of compliments.

I love the bluetooth, although I don't understand, do you not hear the person's voice tag on an incoming call? You have to know the person's number by heart in order to tell who is calling????

It has both the Moonroof/Bose and the Tech Packages. And...its an auto (foot problem). So far I have tinted the windows (Llumar 15% all around), wheel locks, cargo tray, rear bumper protectors and all weather floor mats.

Future mods will include Lumin-x overlays for the fogs (yellow) and headlights (Probably clear), window rain guards (or whatever they are called) installation of my Infinity Basslink II, speaker upgrade with Infinity Kappas, horn upgrade, 18" wheels (way down the line - leaning towards RX-8 wheels). I have no plans to lower the car or do any engine mods...

Let me know what you think...and if you have any opinions on the color of the overlays I should go with...

I'm not sure about out of stock but I'm positive that they've released them because my 2010 s-Sport has them. 2 on drivers and passenger feet, 2 on driver's door handle and passengers door handle, and one in the middle on top

The front two windows are illegal. California allows as low as 35 for the front windows but in my area, the cops don't care as long as they can see the driver.

Rollin' in here with a 2010 Liquid Silver MS3 that I just picked up tonight! I live in the Wexford/Pittsburgh, PA area so if anyone sees me riding around give me a wave. I believe I'm the first in the Wexford area to have a new Speed3. Traded in my dream car, '06 G35 coupe 6 spd but had to for some practical/personal life reasons and I think the MS3 will make up quite nicely. I'll have some pics up soon!

Answering your call for owners of 2010 Mazda 3s -- mine is a charcoal hatchback bought on June 3 and today showed 1720 miles. Traded in a 2006 3s hatchback. New one is a much better performer, owing it seems to me, to the 2.5L engine and a more assertive shift pattern for the automatic tranny. It certainly does better in urban and suburban driving, while retaining the excellent handling of the earlier generation. The EPA 1mpg gain in highway mileage seems to come from a taller top gear (anybody have stats on that?).
May I also ask if anyone has info on a roof rack for the 2010 hatchback?

On the rear bumper, black out the lower valence. It'll look better.
Yeah, I'm already working with my local sign shop. It's funny because a lot of promotional photos showed the lower valance blacked out, especially on the MS3's. I guess this was another one of their cost-cutting measures.

Hello all...
Noob here... Traded in my 8 and picked up a white 2010 speed3
And glad I did....

Now the mods start... The horn is so very sad... Which did you guys put in it?
Also...any one mod the BOV yet?
I'm having a hard time deciding which to use, so far it looks like Forge bpv is looking like the way to go. I would appreciate some input here....as well as a CAI suggestion.

i went with turbosmart bypass valve. and i dont believe any CAI's will fit from GEN1..... i think u need to go with an SRI of some kind or wait for one to come out for our 10's

Picked up my MS3 last Saturday. Came down with the flu that night so it sat in my garage for a week before I drove it again(sad2).Its Celestial Blue Mica with the Tech Package. Quick question? When I got home that night from picking up the car and looked in my glove box I found my oil filler cap. I immediately opened the hood thinking those idiots forgot to place this on my car only to fined a nice billet alum red mazdaspeed cap in it's place. Is this a standard item on 2010 MS3's? Didn't see it listed anywhere on the orig sticker.

Yes, I think it ships with the stock plastic cap on the car, but the aluminum cap comes standard and is dealer-installed. They put my plastic cap in the glove box as well.

We got back from SC yesterday evening. About 500 miles round trip. On the return leg we noted average speed 70 mph, 27.8 mpg. This was mainly interstate, with no chance to tackle the twisties without going far out of the way. At 78 mph on what as far as I could tell was a level stretch we could get about 30 mpg, at 60 on a long level stretch it showed 34.8 mpg for 5 minutes or so. Not too shabby.

Those Yokohama tires do seem loud. Any thoughts from y'all? The wind noise is low, I guess that .30 drag figure is not BS. A couple of random thoughts for Mazda: lose the mirror turn signal repeaters and give us defrost on the side mirrors! Obviously, MORE HORN!! With all the sensors all over the engine and everywhere, how about temperature, oil pressure (oil temperature??) and ammeter/voltmeter readouts in the info screen? Bar graphs would do nicely and could be another setting on the info button. All too many oil pressure indicators don't light up until pressure is REALLY LOW; I like to know that the engine temp is at least "off the peg" before I get on it. Could this even be merely a software update??? Inquiring minds want to know!

BTW, I can't find in the owner's manual the curb weight, i.e. without passengers or cargo. Am I just missing it?

Regardless, the "MazdaBall" is a lot of fun to drive. I need to wash it before I post some pix.

I picked up a 2010 MS3 Black mica last Monday. Ive been lurking around the forum for a week now but finally found the time to post. As for the car, I love it! I'm coming from a long line of Chevy muscle cars which include 5 camaro SS's and an 01 z06 corvette, the last car being the Vett. I had a tremendous love hate relationship with the z06 due to the daily "drivability" factor, the car was so damn low and fragile that I was afraid to take it anywhere which made the MS3 an obvious choice when it came to purchasing a new car. I love the fact that I can drive this car anywhere at anytime and still have performance to keep me interested. The MS3 has far surpassed my expectations in terms of handling, this car truly sticks! As for power Im not as enthusiastic but am satisfied, I'm sure with the addition of intake, downpipe, exhaust, etc the car will be a monster. I look forward to posting up pics soon since I recently had the windows tinted 20%, blacked out the wheels, and had painted the calipers!

What tires / rims are in the pic?

I'm running 205/50R17 Conti ExtremeWinterContact tires on 17x7 Borbet LV5 anthracite rims from TireRack. I love the way they look. Since I live in Maryland, I probably won't need to install them for another few weeks, but I'll report on how they work later.

Also, talk to us a bit about your roof rack set-up.

I've got an old Thule rack w/ two fork mount bike trays and one Sidearm upright tray. The fork mount trays are a pain, but they're so ancient, I doubt Thule even makes them any more. On the other hand, the Sidearm is awesome. Super convenient and fast to load up. Since you have a rack, I assume you know about the "fixpoint" mounting, which is very clean and secure. I don't have a wire rack, so I can't say how much stuff you can get in one, but I can see how that would be useful.

Yes, the stock Yokohama's are terribly loud. I switched to S-Drive's and it was a lot better. The Horn is easy to fix. Add a Fiamm low-tone horn. It's the first mod I did. If you have a GT, you have side mirror defrosters already. If you want more gauges, get a DashHawk or ScanGaugeII. When your coolant temp gets high, the warning light will illuminate amber. When it's really high, I believe it changes to red. The curb weight is available online. It's around 3050 for the 3s (depending on the transmission) and 3250 for the MS3.

We took it for a spin one day because it had to be 'warmed up' and go to Nurburgring the second day after.

Funny to see the small differences in cars.

And the 3 MPS costs 40k in Euro's here! However we don't get any options here. It's full spec already.

Hey ns james, picked up my mazdaspeed 3 2010 aug 4th. Installed a k&n typhoon intake, Option bpv, installed a 12 inch rockford p3, and hope to to some more mods to it, She is crystal white and lives around victoria bc, canada eh! but it sure beats a dog sled

Thanks for posting. I think it looks good. If you ride, you need to carry the bikes somewhere. It think hitch racks just look wrong and ruin handling on FWD cars since all the weight behind the rear wheels reduce tracking. Bikes on the roof have their own downfalls but it just looks better - especially when you have nice rides!!

What I was really wanting to see is if the load bars were level on the car and how the spacing looks with the fixed mounting points. If you have a side shot that would be great!

I agree. Hitch racks work on SUVs, but not on sporty cars.

I don't have the roof rack on right now, so I can't take a new pic, but as I recall, the load bars are even w/ one another. Also judging by where the fixpoints are on the roofline, they should be level.

So what bike(s) do you ride?

i have bought a mazda3 sport in august. colour is copper red. 2.5L engine.
i live in the Toronto area and the main hwy (401) was under road repair,
the second day of driving i got 2 large stone chips on the front hood.
i called the dealers around to ask if they had any touch up paint, most said it would be 2 weeks before they got there shipment in. anyway got it fixed. i have the 6 speed transmission and have had fun trying to learn from a 5 speed that i am used to. i love the bluetooth as we have a law now about driving hands free.

now i am a little concerned about the gas mileage i am getting. the car is rated at 6.1L/100km or 41 mpg. i am driving about 90% hwy so it should be good. i am only getting 10L/100km. don't know what gives but i'm almost thinking about going back to my old car.(squinty)

Where in the world did you read that the 2.5L version is rated at 41mpg? That is way higher than it is; 21 city, 29 highway (11.2 L/100km city, 8.1 L/100km). I can't imagine the Canadian spec would be that much differently rated in the fuel economy department. 41 mpg sure would be nice though lol.

I bought a 2010 Mazdaspeed3 in black, last week. Love it so far but it started snowing the day I picked it up and I am having a hell of a time finding out which winter wheels will fit. The place I am ordering from are sending me a single wheel/tire to do a test fit.

Supposedly the third one with the 55mm offset (http://www.tiretrends.com/wheel_catalog.php3?wheelID=6610) fits the old Mazdaspeed3 just fine. Ordered with ExtremeWinterContact 205/55R16 94T tires. Really hope they fit because I have to leave this car parked until I get some tires.

TireRack, a few Mazda dealers and the internet haven't helped too much. :(

yeah usually you go for narrower tires for winter so you get better contact through snow (cuts through rather than compacts it). The additional sidewall you gain from going to 16" wheels gives you good protection from potholes and such, too.

16x6.5 55mm offset fit perfectly over the brakes. With four Continental ExtremeWinterContact tires (205/60R16), mounted, balanced and shipped it was $740 Canadian. The shop down the street charged me $40 for a test fit for the first rim and then to install them all once they verified it was good. Pretty good deal IMO.

Had the car in my driveway for two weeks, couldn't get out of my driveway on the stock rubber. It was painful.

I need help, its cel is on, i just installed a cpe dp w/ high flow cat, cobb sri, turbo inlet pipe, and now just this morning i the cel light just came on. havent had a chance to put it on a lift yet, but was wondering if anybody has any ideas. o and i removed a resonator.

Wow, thats' a lot to do in one sitting. I would have put one thing on at a time to see what happens. DPs can cause a CEL due to the o2 sensor going wonky. The second cat (highflow/race pipe) should not be an issue because the o2 sensors do not monitor it, but can almost guarantee your problem is the DP.

I have read that intakes can throw a CEL if the MAF is damaged or if it's not reading properly.

Just for fun, reset your ECU (disc the battery, pump the brakes 20x then reconnec). If the CEL comes back connect a Dashhawk/Scanguage or something like that and start getting some codes for us.

p0171 means your o2 sensor is reading your AFR/emissions as "lean" or too much air. You need to somehow bypass the o2 sensor and/or hit the ecu to trick it. I've not gone that far with my MS3 yet, but I'm sure tons of other knowledgeable people will quickly chime in.

The fouler trick should work. The o2 in the cat typically reads the level of emissions or clean air to make sure the cat is doing it's job. By extending the sensor out of the direct path of exhaust flow the ecu won't know the difference. This has been used on numerous cars/applications for god knows how long.

Congrats on the car...

You'll have to buy the OEM from the dealer or perhaps a seller of genuine mazda parts. Prepare to pay a pretty penny for them.

Well, took my M3 in two days ago. The guy said he'd need to order a whole new radio and that Mazda forbids them from opening anything inside the car up if it's still under warranty.

Hopefully that means I'll be enjoying tunes again early next week. He also said it should only take about 30 mins to swap the radio (so I don't need to get a rental), but I'm still a little scared that the new one will creak and squeak. I've had bad experiences with replaced radios before...

So far, my first service experience has been positive!

Thanks for the tip! So, I got my Mz3's radio replaced and everything is great...except you can clearly see where the tech shoved in a flathead screwdriver / similar tool to pop off the radio cover.

Well, technically the scratch is on the face plate for the climate control, which is right beneath the radio faceplate. It's pretty small...my girlfriend says that only /I/ would notice such a thing but I'm still considering asking for them to replace it.

Will try to post pix later, but what do you guys think? Barely a month old.... (sad1)

I bought the MS CAI when I first bought my 2007 MS3, so I think its the first series. I orginally was told the samething when I first bought the 2010 MS3 so I just sat on it for a while. After seeing Cobb, Corksport and pretty much everyone else that makes a CAI for the MS3s (07-10) installing it without issue, I decided to call the dealership and ask my buddy in service to do the work. The dealership told me that he might run into problems before they tried to install it but his tech was able to get it in. There was no issues for the CAI or the TIP from Cobb. The only thing the tech said was an "issue" was the stock intake plastic hose from the front end to the stock intake box. He didn't know what to do with it so he left it connected. I removed it of course as there is no need for the stocker with the CAI now. Hope this helps, I have to say the gains are worth fighting with someone to install it for you or you can always DIY. I didn't want to mess with all that since I only have 4800 miles on my car and my buddy only charged me $100 to install both.

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention, after i washed my car the gods decided it was time for rain :(

I'm a little sad guys because I took my MS3 into the dealership to get the little plastic piece under the front bumper changed (When I bought the car that piece was broken/torn) and they told me they had to go refinish the bumper and repaint it because their were also scratches in the bumper! I took a look and sure enough, two pinky nail sized scrapes in my bumper :*(

i just got approved at mazda today for 2010 speed3 traded my protegespeed in and ill be picking it up in 2 days its gettin shipped from the port i could of got a red today but its been there for a while and i dont no how many people have drove it and how hard.i took it for an hour 45 min test drive and a i came to a red light with a bmw m5 iam sure you guys can figure out what happen

I just recieved my 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 about a month ago from Indy (I live in Ft. Wayne, In.). It's got 1k on it now and is a beautiful celestrial blue. It may not be the typical car a 62 year old man would buy, but I enjoy the style and power. Quite a change from the Scion XA I had before. I also like the utility of the 5 door and folding seats. I would like to get a mechanical workshop manual for it (dealer here does not have them available yet). It would be good to hear from others who have had the 2010 MS3 longer and of any problems to look out for. Thanks, Marc
