Hello, I know I haven't posted lately but I got a bit of an issue to look into...

Took my MS6 into mazda here for an oil change and full circle...blah blah blah...When my regular service rep came to check me out with the report and whatnot he told my that the "transfer case cover was leaking." I dont know much about that area of the MS6 so he helped illustrate what was happening...

From his description, the transfer case is leaking in between where it hooks up with the drive shaft to the rear wheels I believe. According to him, they havent seen that particular issue with the MS6 regularly, but is fairly common on the CX-7 apparently...

Question: Has this happened to anyone here?

Question 2: If so, is it something that is typically fixed once, or does it tend to continue over time and re-occur?

He made it sound like the job is a FIX as opposed to parts replacement...

Thanks Everyone!

Sounds like the seals need replacing. Shouldn't be much hassle after you get under there adn get the parts put in. Then again, I've not heard of this issue before.

There is a TSB for this for the CX7, I don't know if it applies to the MS6 as well. It looks like it is a lot of work per the TSB.

Post the TSB if you can for future reference.

interesting...If it does apply, I'd certainly like to have it done.

yes there is a tsb for it, you have to remove the PTO(transfer case), and replace the inner seals. The original seal was a more circle type seal and has shown to leak, the replacement seal kit that mazda installs are now a oval shaped seal that better contains the fluid.

It is not a easy job, I've done about a dozen of them, getting it out isn't too bad, but replacing the seals can be a bitch with the stupid special tools mazda provides us with.

I'm wondering if thats what they did to me...

Initially, it was said that my transfer case COVER was leaking...but through the whole thing my guy never mentioned that it was a TSB. Only that it was far more common in the CX7s and occoaisionally on the MS6s...

Do dealers not use the term "TSB" with customers for whatever reason?

well it is less common on the ms6's for whatever reason i don't know its the same PTO. At my dealer we always tell customers about TSB's that we perform if they fit their complaints.

Interesting...I'll have to check some reciepts and see what was really done. I'll get back to this soon!

and attached it to the post.
It looks like that TSB is specifically for the CX7 only.
