You'll need to roll the fenders to make it work. You probably shouldn't run spacers though. And yes, wheeldude has some 18x9s available that don't look too bad, but your tire is gonna be pretty well stretched out on that rim.
18x8.5 at what offset? that's the important question.

True story.
The only 8.5" wheels I looked at were the Rota SVNs.

What is the goal? Simply a wide wheel or some specific performance aspect? You can run 10" wide or wider wheels if you want to autocross and run smaller diameter tires. 16x10 should be fine with some R compound race rubber. Not good for the street though....

someone on the forum has 18x8.5 with 38 offset.. EVO wheels.. he is running 245/40/18.. all he did was roll and pull rear fenders. only rubs slightly according to him. i bet with 235/40 tires, it'll definitely clear after a roll and pull in the rear.

What do people mean by pulling the fenders? I was planning on rolling mine, but what is pulling? Also, how do you roll the inner fender?

rx8 rims are a moot point as their offset is +55
Rim width is also a moot point as unless you are stretching your tire, your rim width will never exceed tire width.
I have an 8.5 wide rim with a +38 offset running a 245 tire

This summer my MS6 will be seeing some 18x9.5 +38 with 245s

well i want a nice looking wide wheel on my car, wheelfire has a sweet set and there 18X8.5. but they dont offer an offset spec, if i get 18X8 would i have to roll the fenders? these are the wheels at wheelfire. http://www.wheelfire.com/scontent/WheelDetails.cfm?IDNumber=RUFFRACING_R281_MB&TireIDNumber=SN3800&SKU=1197&TireSKU=2444&VehicleMakeFinal=Mazda&VehicleYearFinal=2007&VehicleModelFinal=Mazdaspeed%206&VehicleOption=Sport%20and%20Grand%20Touring

This is not true, RX8 wheels are 18x8 with offset +50 and 235x40x18 fit just fine...My MS3 has these with no issues. BTW, I kept these wheels out of my RIP RX8 so I know these wheels very well.

Currently running 18x8.5, +35 I've had 225's, 235's, and 245's all on the same wheels...with the sus as low as it is, I am back to 235's. Rolled front and back.
Still waiting on 10's to test fit. 9's are weak sauce.
Crappy old pic with too much camber. I don't have any new pics really. weather sucks here.

I've had 225/35/20 8.5 wide 45 offset with mazdaspeed springs with rolled fenders and it would still rub on hard turns or with weight. I'm back down to 18x7.5 Work Emotion 43 offset with 225/40/18 Kumho... no problems. I do miss the way my 20's looked especially cause no one else was really running em but the rubbing on hard turns was too much. Straight line with full throtle no problem though. But these cars are AWD and there was no point to it if you couldn't take turns.

ok so they are +50.
unless you are going to go with a stretch the tire a 10" wide rim requires at least a 255 wide tire. I'm gonna go with a 9.5 and 245s

Do you live on Bearfield or near that? I use to live on Prescott. The duplexes in the background of your pic look exactly like where I lived. Small world!
