First know that I never planned to do much to this 2000 Protege ES.
It's my work car and sometimes play car but don't plan to do much with it just keep it clean with some mods. Although I'd like maybe a couple recommendations before I decide to do nothing with it besides clean it.

Currently replaced the Headers, Intake, Exhaust, Headlights, Taillights, Grill and Badges.
Next is probably rims/tires and I'm done, unless someone can make a couple really tempting recommendations.

I plan to give it a new friend 2010 Speed3

recommendations for the Protege?

oh yeah thats on the list with wheels considering my rear struts sound like they need replacing. Locally they run $70 for each rear strut so then I planned to order springs for the 1.5 drop.
That should due fine correct?

626 intake manifold and throttle body.

no stock struts will not work good with a drop/increased spring rates

What difference does the 626 intake manifold make over another?

626 mani flows alot better.

Its the best IM available for our cars, without creating a custom one ofc.

I'm guessing that you can get one at any parts store.

2000 626, but some of the junkyards will bullshit you on the true year it came from.

Yeah, I agree the junkyards are good for somethings & not so great for others.

even i have a 626 in my car, it's not as necessary with the 99-00 models, since our IM don't come with VTCS, since emission laws were more lax back then...

i really like mine, the deeper tone and actually hearing the engine!, and feeling a nice whiplash when you go WOT at 4k rpms!

unless you're going turbo, the best thing you should do is the suspension;
also motor mounts really help and a short throw shifter makes shifting a lot easier too.

mods are up to you, that's what makes your car, YOUR car!

What would you say the time/difficulty level is for installing a 626 mani on a protege?

depends how diy you are, but i'd say... medium to easy in about 4 hrs, it's pretty much just a swap.

remember to clean all the excess gasket off of the TB before putting the new ones on too!

I can't find an auto parts store that even carries the 626 intake manifold at least not on-line. I found the gasket fot it but not the manifold.

Salvage yards or Protege Garage.
