My car when you start idles at 2000 rpm and then moves to 1500rpm.
But when i put the car in drive the idle goes to 900 rpm!! What the heck is going on. Cleaned the following....
1 EGR
2 IAC
3 Throttle body as well
Now i used a spray carb cleaner...Still no better....any ideas?
thanks

Does the idle rpms drop back down on the car once its warmed up? Also do you have any mods done to the car?

It seems too fast. Slower would probably be better. But it is normal.

Yes it does sound normal but the OP never mentioned if that was on a cold start or not. It is completely normal on a cold start to idle around 1.5k-2k rpms and once warmed up to drop back around 750ish... 900 seems a little high to me for a warm idle imo.
It could idle at 900 if the car is still cold but I have never paid attention long enough to tell what my old p5 idled like cold and in gear.
Again we can only assume this is on a cold start beings that the OP never mentioned warm or cold.

nvm 900 for me is round 7-800 cause my tach is off by 200 or sumthin, as i was told by a technician as well as scan tool.

normal. I usually try to wait till it gets to 1500ish before moving.

Yea, that's normal for me too. I never really let the engine warm up by sitting there. I just take it easy until the temp gauge gets to the standard point and then hit afterburners. Lol but seriously, that sounds normal to me too.

Normal. And our cold mornings make it sound even worse. If you decide to keep the car it won't seem as bad come summertime.

Pcm keeping the idle up to get into closed loop faster, you'd probably see loop status go from open to closed once the idle starts dropping if you were watching on a scan tool.
