Im just curious to see what everyone drove before they got there speed. I personally came from a stang, and miss the hell out of it. It wasen't the fastest of them all, it actually had a pig of a v8, but i slammed the F*** out of it and had alot of fun in it. Just wanna see what others use to drive and if they would ever drive it again.

didn't start the thread to get bashed on or for others to get bashed, to me its always cool to see what others were into or may still be into but moved on to try something different.

02 1.8t GTI with bolt ons. Had the slightly bigger K04-001.
My speed put down almost the same HP stock and still felt faster for some reason. I really liked the GTI but was tired of playing "guess what sensor is going to fail next?"

Here are a couple of the previous ones.
So far the MS3 is a great car. The LTZ was my favorite feature wise, but cornering like a bowl of Jello got old.
The Accord was great too. I should have kept it long term, especially with all the modifications it had, but I got an offer I couldn't refuse.
The GXP was a fun ride, my third GP and was an interim car to the G8. However with other priorities, I decided to remain conservative and go MS3. I'll likely add to the family, but for now, I like not having a car payment.

Toyota sold right hand drive versions of the Cavalier in Japan under the Toyota brand name. They had different interior pieces and exterior pieces not found on the US model. But I bought PLENTY of the JDM parts and put them on the car for show purposes (visors, signals, trunk carpet, engine parts, taillights, badges). So the front badge went on to go with the other parts on the car. Most if not everyone is unaware of rhd Toyota Cavaliers, but they exist out there.
I always get asked about this so I have a batch of pics saved up since i always seem to have to justify the badges for those who don't know about the Toyota cavalier:

They handled amazingly, I had Tein S-tech springs only and couldn't get enough of it. Mine was fast enough for the roads I was on. I had the SR20DET with Apex'i intake and CBE only and it was quick enough because the highest speed limit there was 80kph and that was on the express ways. Not that I really obided my those speeds though, but who could! haha

Me too :( A few of them, actually. I was hoping the MS3 would be mod-friendly when I bought it. I was dumb and didn't research that before I signed the paperwork. Now I'm just riding it out for a couple of years until I can trade it in without a loss and get a C5 Z06. It's not that the MS3 isn't a nice car...it's just not as quick or as mod-friendly as I'd like it to be.

couldnt really take out the lambo doors once the kit was molded, and the shaved handled couldnt really remove them either, but got rid of the 98+ JDM cf turbo wing, and molded a rear lip, and ditched all the stickers. But I love the carbon fiber mazda rx-7 c-west headlight conversion. I miss it. I had a 2006 BMW e60 M5 which I replaced as my daily driver with my 2008 MS3 GT. The MS3 is much more fun to drive as a daily driver than the M5. The M5 was just too heavy and used to much gas on my 21 mile one way commute in Atlanta area traffic. While the M5 may be marginally faster, as a daily driver the MS3 is plenty fast, and much more nimble ...

I had a 2002 civic and then hurricane Ike (hints my name) took it from me. Dont ask "why did you leave it there?" I was in Boston and couldn't get back to Texas to move my car in time, that is why. Came out on top on this one, though :) Oh here are some aftermath pictures. 1st picture is the Tuesday after the storm, when we were allowed back on the island, the rest are at the insurance lot, went to go get my roof rack. Ill try to get some pictures before the storm. The downside is I just paid her off a few months before this. Oh well.
EDIT:OH YEAH. Forgot to point out. If you look on the driver side window of the 1st picture you can see a highlighter that was in my center console when I left. Floated up and landed on the lip right there in the picture. Its that orange bar.

I like the pick up for sure but I just couldnt buy one because Im not going to pay that much for a car and have hand window cranks in the rear. Anyway, I think your car looks great, I always liked how these looked and it was always sweet to smoke a mustang. They would get so mad that a "neon" would beat them. Ha

I miss the red Evo the most. I had a ton of fun in that car, and it never gave me any problems. The GTO was a great car, but ultimately too difficult/expensive to modify, and too big and heavy to really be fun without mods. The turbo ITR was great, but it required a LOT of maintenance, and it ultimately developed an oil leak I couldn't fix for some reason.
And thank you :)

Here is my 07 honda fit base. I beat the crap out of this car and after 93k miles not one thing suffered. I definitly recommend this car as a daily. I sold it for the ms3 cause it would have costed too much money to get it as fast as the 3 does already. The fit cornered though, no weight and a solid shell made this thing handle like a beast.

How does it compare to the speed?[/QUOTE]
The speed handles a lot better and interior is nicer.
I think the SRT-4 is a straight line car, however if you do a lot of suspension work it does pretty good at time attack events.
I also love the tranny on the SRT, very positive shifts, never hitting gates between shifts. But, it only had 5 speeds, it needed a 6th gear.
The stock tranny on the SRT I think could handle somewhere around 500 horses to the wheels.
But, overall driving, quality, styling and being a much faster car from the factory The Mazdaspeed 3 dominates hands down.
I think if you dumped the same amount of money into both cars, you would have a much faster and stronger car with the mazda than you would with the dodge. (And I'm not just saying that because I own a Mazda)

man, that is one sweet FSJ...
some VERY COOOL CARS on this thread...
i've owned a '69 jeepster commando halfcab... my first hand-me-down from dad... we put a 400cid chev and 4spd in it...
my second was mom's '70 SS nova 4-spd... did a mild restore and drove that while in my first year or two of college... that was a great car..
also ended up with dads '83 FSJ cherokee laredo, the last year of the full size 2-door model....it had 260,000 on it. i rebuilt the engine, tranny... then sold it ... had 352,000 on it, and ran great... what a great tow vehicle that thing was...
i've also owned a few corollas that are still being driven into the ground...
my first new car was my xterra that i bought in late 2000 (V6, 4WD, 5speed, wicked sound system)... and what a great car... all i did was change the oil... and i really punished it... it hauled everything, everywhere (including the new baby home)... i wasn't going to trade it in, but they offered me so much for it i couldn't see keeping it... i try not to think about it...
here are a few photos through the life of 'traveler' (what we called it), and i think one of a photo of a photo of my old nova... i'll do my best to dig up some cherokee and commando photos, maybe eve a few luv ones.... (didn't have a digital camera back then)...
that first one is the last time we went to the coast together... sigh...

that actually looks very clean :) I like the wings west style wing (i believe thats a wings west wing) man everyone had wings west wings back in the day :) The wheels looks like the ones youd see on the sl500 mercedes. Props for those too(thumbup)
Yeah it's an OEM wing (WW sold it as well, but cheaper from dealer), and wings west 4-piece urethane kit. Lowered 1.8" w/ Intrax coils, 17" Enkei "Shoguns", and an HKS dragger exhaust (muffler only).
All show no go. :P I wish I had pics of my PREVIOUS Tiburon that was PURE rice. It had vinyl ALLLL over it, I'm talking extreme!

as you could probably tell from my pics of all the decals n shit that I too was a vinyl whore :( But I was proud of the ones on the cavalier, I had actually designed them on my computer in MS paint and then had them printed at a vinyl store, so it was more gratifying that I designed them myself, as rice as they looked :)

A PITA, always something breaking, rattling or squeaking. I only had it for 9 months or 11000 km. It was my last VDUB after almost 20 years. I find the Speed 3 so much better, the only thing I miss from the R32 is the AWD.

Bummer - I was just trying to tell a friend that I'm not 100% gung ho about the new Jetta TDI because of the company's recent past with reliability. On paper, the TDI is a rock-on bargain due to it taking diesel (which is almost the same as regular unleaded), it's driveability, and interior. But I've read more negative stories from owners than positives due to electrical-related issues. Car mags seem to enjoy the VWs; it's unfortunate that owners seem to give it bad reviews. Consumer Reports has had not-so-good ratings also in the past. I do read good reviews from owners, too, just more bad ones for me to consider or recommend one at this point.

Speaking of Vdubs :) Curious to hear your experience...
I bought the car in July '07 and it had 36K miles on it. It also had a previous accident, as show on the CarFax report, and some body panel repair. However, the car drove great and I really did like driving it for it's pull across the powerband (200HP, 195TQ, N/A). Over the course of the next 19 months, I put 22,000 miles on the car and honestly never really had an issue with it. I had to replace two things: battery and a taillight bulb. I did bring it in the have the brakelight fuse replaced as it was a recall and it did put my car into limp mode a couple times, but the issue was fixed and it did not resurface.
Like most others, I was worried about long-term reliability of VW. I have a couple friends who have pretty much laid their VWs to rest at 130K miles and I wanted to at least get rid of mine before it wasn't worth anything. I took the opportunity on a great deal and traded in the VW.
The VW certainly felt more sturdy than the Mazda and I enjoyed the styling of the MKIV Jetta. The engine was stout and provided a lot of fun, but in the end, I got rid of it because I was worried about the future of the car.

Over the last 25 years I owned a Golf I GTI (4 speed, only about 1800 pounds heavy!), Golf II GTI, Golf II GTI 16V, Golf III VR6 and Golf IV R32. The Golf I GTI was the most fun of the bunch. Very reliable (didn't have much that could have made problems anyway..). From then on problems got worse with each newer generation. After the R32 I was so frustrated that I figured out, that after owning japanese bikes for more than 25 years, with only minor problems, maybe I should give japanese cars a try. Since then I have owned a Mazda 6 and now have a Mazda Speed 3. Not that I haven't had any problems, but after a total of 6 years and 2 cars I can say that if my Vdubs would have had so few problems as my Mazdas I'd probably still be driving a Vdub.
Maybe the overall feel of the Mazdas is not quite as refined as that of a Vdub, but as the Mazda is so much cheaper (at least here in Switzerland) I have plenty of money left to invest in aftermarket parts. I for my point think my Speed 3 with Bilstein coilovers and OZ Ultraleggeras is a much better ride than my R32 was despite it having KW variant 2 Coilovers and upgraded wheels. Last of all it surely is down to personal preferences, but at the moment I don't think I'll ever buy another Vdub. On the other side, if ten years ago sombody would have told me that someday in future I'd be driving a Mazda....
Hank3

Good to hear more honest stories about Vdub experiences. It's not all about Vdub is whack and bashing them; but there are stories explaining the ownership experience. There's no doubt they put out great products, but it's the after-experience...
Don't have pics, but I've been all over the map with cars. I don't have any brand loyalty (and with so much cross-ownership and vendor sharing, very little separate brands these days anyway).
I've owned two Mazdas (Protege, MS3), two Toyotas (Cressida, Celica), one Chevy (Metro), one Mitsubishi (Eclipse), one Chrysler (minivan) and one Nissan (Sentra).

1986 Ford F-150 (The truck that would NEVAR die!)
1996 Ford Contour (WORST POS EVER but I loved the car)
2003.5 Mazda Protege5 (Randomly died on me in traffic a few times but always started back up wtf, but very reliable outside of that)
2008.5 Mazda Mazdaspeed3 (So far so good, but the internet has me worried about engines falling, engines popping, turbos smoking, and Jesus Christ striking me down with a bolt of lightning)

Was a great car, had it for 7 years and over 90k miles with no major issues, if it had more aftermarket support would have kept it as a project car. It was a beast when new, but couldn't hang with the next generation of compact sports cars anymore.

I was ...... off line .
actually it was a decreasing radius with a signifigant advantage to being wide on entry and a cone was placed a few feet inside of the line produced by the previous cones, and it was a old blackened nasty cone,

S4 2.7t = LOVE! Why did you ditch it?
ever own one? it's a serious money pit. it's a love/hate relationship. it was in the shop more then it was on the road. as soon as the warrant was up, i sold it. i'm sure you could pick one up now for under 10k.

I had a 98 GSXR 600. It was a lot of fun and a great way to step into the world of sport bikes, but I was sore after more than an hour ride. I wanted something with the power of a supersport, the comfort of a standard and looks to die for - the Z is definitely that bike (thumb)

My brother actually has the SER now, and the MSP will dust it .. BUT, the SER feels 'torquier'. It torque steers like crazy. One of the most fun NA 4cyl's i have driven

Man I wish Nissan would have combined the 02-03 front end on the 04-05 body style. Regardless the Spec V is a very fun car to drive. I loved how smooth the shifting was but for some reason I had a habit of grinding 3rd gear. Maybe it was the oddly shaped shift knob lol.
