Just a quick question..

I got my bran new Mazda 6 grand touring on Saturday. I was just looking at the mpg on it and it says 12.6, Is there some kind of break in period or do i seriously have a problem with a new car that only has 52 miles on it.

Sorry if this seems like an odd (I should of known) Kind of questions.

Reset the mileage computer, that read out includes all the idle time from shipping and lot time. Reset it to start calculating from now and it should get better. The mileage will also go up after you have a few k on the car.

+1. It'll take some time to get the average mpg. I'm getting 24 in the city,but mine's a 4 banger.

I get about 22mpg average with my 09 6s. Best is around 28mpg.

Cars may also not get their best fuel economy until the engine is broken in. The new Mazda6 isn't supposed to have any special break-in oil, so I'm not sure how true that is.

I've had mine 10 days and now have almost 1300 miles on it :mrgreen:

I'm getting (real-world) over 25 and I'm not exactly hyper-miling ;)
