hey guys well i have to start paying half insurance come this summer so basically 600 dollars a month with car payment to drive this car. in all honesty im considering getting an srt4. have any of u owned both and can give me a comparson?

i can promise you that an srt-4 will NOT be less than an ms3. It is more of a "sports" car than the ms3 and typically has a "higher risk" demographic than the MS3

I can't compare the srt-4 to the ms3 but my insurance dropped alittle going from a 08 Civic SI sedan to the MS3. Can't quite figure that one out.

3 things come to my mind:
1- WTF are you thinking, srt4?
2- you should call the police and file a report of being raped by your insurance agent.
3- if you have a record that bad were it cost that much. Don’t drive a speed3, because you will raise my rates.
I have state farm and I am under 25. I insure my self and have no other cars on my policy. I pay no more then 135 per month with a 500 deductible with full coverage and unensured motorist coverage

$600 a month for insurance? Your run over a bus full of kids and then back into an ambulance? OR do you just drive down the street giving the finger to every cop you see? noob!
600 for insurance AND car payment.....
just stick with what you got, im not saying either car has class, but the MS3 def has more than the SRT-4. you might be able to get away with a cheaper car payment with an SRT, but if the insurance hikes it will be pointless.

damn! 225 a month just for insurance??!?!?! you need to go and buy a beater for like 500 bucks and get liablity on it setting you as the primary driver. then put one of your parents as the prim. of your car or set as a second car for your family that you are on. I did this when i was 19...parents had 3 cars one was a work van and i was "set as the primary driver " of the van.

If i am reading this the car payment is $336 and HALF the insurance is $225, making his insurance $450/month.
Am I reading that one right?

did you get a DUI or something? That's just crazy.
And as for insurance going down coming out of the Si, might have something to do with honda being the car that is stolen more than any car.

that would be because hondas get stolen more than anything. also, they are probably more expensive to fix than mazdas. my friend just had his s2000 broken into. all they took was the seats. and just for the cost of the seats and the convertable top damaged(because thats how they got in to steal the seats) they quoted him $7,000 to fix it.
WTF MATE

I pay around 60 bucks a month for full coverage with a 500 deductible on the MS3. I pay around 25 a month for my Integra. USAA insurance.

This makes no sense. I'm pretty sure the srt-4 is the number 3 most expensive car to insure in the U.S.

03-12-2009, 02:00 PM
Yea, it's probably more expensive than insuring:
- GT-R
- Z06
- a Bentley
- Escalade
- Ferraris
- Lambos
- Porsches
etc.

So at the risk of looking like a complete ass ...again, I have to ask, why is you insurance so high? Assuming I read you last post correctly and your insurance is indeed $450/month (you said half was $225 right?).
A)You drove through a playground full of kids, backed into the ambulance that showed up injuring the paramedics then ran a red light and cut of a fire truck fleeing the scene going the wrong way down a one way st at 90 MPH and then got pulled over by the police and had trouble explaining the blood stains on the hood and the pound of coke and open bottle of wiskey on the back seat?
or
B)You really do drive around flipping off cops while you speed and throw half empty beer cans at pedestrians.

I have to agree, insurance companies look at everything so browse around. I'm military so it would be expected of me to go with USAA but State farm has better deals and im paying 250 a month on the car and 150 insurance. Give them all a call and see what quotes you can get. Its low for me because my agent is ex military and I have two deployments under my belt so I got lucky. Try doing driver safety classes and other things to lower the payments. Also look at what is covered, sometimes the standard is high for collision or whatever else.

best advice in this thread.
think of an insurance company like the casino. in roulette the casino says "ok 36 numbers on the board, 1:36 chance of you guessing right, payout is 36:1." insurance companies do essentially the same thing except that they have a lot more factors and variability to play with. because of this each insurance company will calculate their version of the correct odds differently which will effect your price. the best thing to do is shop around and see how different companies have calculated your odds.

Well you're a buzz kill :D ... only kidding. I don't think its fraud per say. When I had my first car (at 17-18 or so) on paper it was my father's car, and I was on his policy. Many people do this and the insurance companies im sure they are aware of it.
It can however shift things around in a legal issue. If the car were in my name and I was the policy and title holder I am legally responsible for the car. If im in an accident and someone tries to sue me they can't go after my family. On the other hand, when my car was in my father's name under his policy, someone could have come after him as well in a lawsuit.

I'll say. Going for a land speed record we ya? Man if I were your folks you would get the "5 across the eyes" (In Maddox we trust) every time the bill came in the mail.

I think you should shop around. I was paying the same rate for a ford minivan with over 200k miles on it worth $1200.00, as I am now for a new MS3. When I got the MS3 I shopped around for insurance. I went with progressive because they were the easiest and I they saved me a bunch of $$$

I don't know about where you guys live, but around here in NE Ohio it seems like every couple months some kid is in the paper who completely wrecked an SRT-4. Every time it results in the car being totally destroyed beyond recognition, and sadly no one walks away living.
I can't say the same for the MS3 and am certain it's safety features and frame are significantly better than the SRT-4, along with lower overall accident rates-- this leads to lower insurance costs.

it is technically fraud. your agent just knows that you're not going to get caught. your agent's job is to sell policies. that's it. they work on commission. if making your payment lower by doing this makes you buy the policy instead of going somewhere else and they are confident they aren't going to get in trouble for it they'll do it because it means more money in their pocket. it doesn't mean that it's correct.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insurance_fraud#Automobile_Insurance
Another form of automobile insurance fraud, known as "fronting," involves registering someone other than the real primary driver of a car as the primary driver of the car. For example, parents might list themselves as the primary driver of their children's vehicles to avoid young driver premiums.

and how would they prove this? aside from me actually saying this is what happened. i did drive the van...i also drove the other vehicles they had...did i actually drive my car more of a % than the other 3...who knows. i was 17 and drove all the cars we had......the "primary" driver can be subjective.
edit : i am not debating weather it was legal or not...if i actually lied and said no i am not the primary driver of X vehicle but put me as the primary of X vehicle...then i see how it could be. but in my case it was not that simple. hopefully that makes sense. but my advice to the OP about getting a beater....he could be the prim. driver and actually drive the car. right? how would he actually determine which he drove more? if it's obvious to him which he would then i could see that as lying ..but if it were split time between the 2 and was close...would that matter? say even it in all actuallity he drove the higher priced car 51% of the time, would he know it and could determine this?

exactly. it's almost impossible to prove which is why it is done. just technically it's not right.
though with pay as you drive being a future possibility along with some sort of automatic reporting of mileage and possibly location the chances for this type of activity are way lower. sure you still don't know who is driving but your ins co will know how much a car is being driven (or not driven)

huge role. depending on your state of course. some states do not approve of this practice. technically it's not your credit score though. it's your "insurance score" which is derived from your credit score. same thing really
They do? How the hell does that make sense?

it is somewhat controversial. a poor credit score can be an indicator of a higher likelihood of a claim. if you think about it it's as fair of a factor as any other and its use is based on the same statistical analysis used on all insurance variables. since that statistical link exists why not use it?

"We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get into locked a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can." (stoned)
