I believe the M5 seats are made for small people. I am almost 6' tall, and my back has not been right since I bought this car. I miss my Volvo...best seats in the world. Anyway, does anyone know if there is an aftermarket driver's seat upgrade available? The issue is that the seat bottom is way too short.
All recommendations appreciated.
Thanks!

there are a ton of aftermarket seat companies, however they are geared more towards racing, and usually have tighter bolsters to keep you in the seat while racing.
They are also very expensive. Not to say OEM seats are cheap. Hyundai seat bottoms w/ cloth are about 1400. I know this because i work in a hyundai parts dept, and recently had to order a special order seat bottom.
An aftermarket seat will run about 400 and up.

I would gladly spend $400 for a better seat. At this point, it's a lot cheaper than getting another car.

As a 6' -er this may not be the best option, but have you tried raising the seat as high as possible? The increased height may be a bit more natural and provide some relief to your back. I actually find myself doing this when I've been in the car for more than an hour, such as trips out to the Rockies.

I second that ^ ...if you raise or lower depending on the position you have your seat normally set at, you can actually feel relief by providing you back as well as your legs with a different posture. Remember that as the seat goes up it also moves back away from the dash as well.

Davicho,
Although it would be a good option to raise the seat, the problem is that your head will toutch the roof sooner or later! And... Unless yours is different, when you raise the seat, it actually gets closer to the dash and not the opposite!
I'm 5' 8" and I like to be seated higher than in a normal car. So I raise the seat to the level that I want, but unfortunately, it also moves forward and not backwards. So I end up too close to the steering wheel and pedals, but at a good height..
Which Volvo did you have? I used to drive a '93 945T which yes, had nice seats.
And yes, raise the seat. I have no problem with the height of the Mazda5 seat and I'm 6'2", and I still have plenty of headroom.

The Recaro SRD seats from the TypeR. They're wider. Just need to find rails and brackets to mount to your Mazda 5

I was also looking to get aftermarket seats since i miss my WRX seats so much. But how does the rail issue get fixed? Are there adapters for the stock rails to fit aftermarket seats? or can stock rails just bolt on? or whats the deal? i defenately want to change my seat.

I also had a 1993 940 T Wagon, and a 1989 740 Wagon before that. 200K plus miles on each. I believe that Volvo always made the best seats. After driving an average of 90 miles a day, the Mazda seat just doesn't cut it....way too short and lacking thigh support. I have the seat high, but not at the limit. At least the 5 has LOTS of head room!
Appreciate the suggestions.
