planning on swapping a mazdaspeed transmission into my 2001 protege DX 1.6L.

preferring the mazdaspeed transmission because it already has the LSD installed but i am aware of needing a customer bell housing?

is there an easier route to go? search is proving useless. if anyone can put some info i would greatly appreciate it. this car is also an automatic. paid 400 dollars for it and its a great peice so far, working on rebuilding the engine and plan to run a decent amount of boost, but i need a tranny to take the abuse. i hear the auto to manual swap is a beast but ill work out the ECU and wiring later (info on that also appreciated), main concern is finding a manual transmission thats either A) direct fit i can add LSD to or B) a conversion for the mazdaspeed transmission.

also ive read the internals on the regular protege's transmission and msp's transmission are exactly the same except the LSD. true?

The mazdaspeed(G15MR) transmission won't mate up to the 1.6L engine.
Your best best would be to either convert to 1.8L/2.0L to use the mazdaspeed transmission or convert the 1.6L to manual and rebuild the 1.6L manual transmission with a custom clutch-type LSD.
OPM motorsports can make the clutch-type LSD for about $1000

I've done a 1.8L manual --> 1.6L auto swap... every single wire on the chassis will have to be swapped.
