The Chinese will have it Tougher than the Japanese had it (http://www.autotribute.com/2009/02/chinese-find-it-tougher-than-japanese.html)
Do you agree with the author's argument?

well built Japanese, American, Korean or German Car
I think this is issue number one, now the competition is more diverse than when the Japanese entered
But when you think about it, would you rather buy an affordable Chinese car with subpar safety and reliability or spend an extra few grands to buy a well built Japanese, American, Korean or German Car -- new or used
On the downside, the same question was posted once for a lot of the day-to-day products bought by the average American, nobody in their right mind would buy Chinese, but now check places like Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, etc., it is flooded with them.
I don't believe people care as much about the source of the product anymore, and the current economy does not call for product quality for extra bucks but rather cheapness IMO

I don't think they care when it comes to consumables, but when it comes to the cars they drive their kids around it will. Did you see the crash test video? I’m not kidding, that scared me. To think that these cars could be on our roads carrying our children is just scary. These cars got a 0 out of 5 on the ratings. The Auto industry already knows that the rating system that they have in place now needs to be revamped because the cars being sold in America are exceeding the test as is. Now the government is going to let a sub-par automaker sale here. That’s just BS.

I'm with you, but that is why I used the Toys 'R Us example, so you wouldn't risk your children's safety by driving a low quality or unsafe car, but you can buy him(her) a crappy toy that costs you 3 dollars less, yet it can poison/expose him(her) to lead or cheap painting or choking him(her) with lose plastic parts.
How many related toy recalls have been in the last couple of years? What is the origin of the majority of those? (scratch)

But those products are not Chinese engineered (they are not Chinese). They are just built in China, and that's about it.

The car in the post does look nice though. All the have to do is improve the safety of that car and I would seriously consider it (for a cheap price, of course).

People won't see safety. All they'll see is a Camry-sized car for $10,000 and they will jump for it. Americans are stupid...
